President Joe Biden on Tuesday said that the United States will impose sanctions “far beyond” the ones that the United States imposed in 2014 following the annexation of the Crimean peninsula.

“This is the beginning of a Russian invasion of Ukraine,” Biden said in a White House speech, signaling a shift in his administration’s position. “We will continue to escalate sanctions if Russia escalates,” he added.

Russian elites and their family members will also soon face sanctions, Biden said, adding that “Russia will pay an even steeper price” if Moscow decides to push forward into Ukraine. Two Russian banks and Russian sovereign debt will also be sanctioned, he said.

Also in his speech, Biden said he would send more U.S. troops to the Baltic states as a defensive measure to strengthen NATO’s position in the area.

Russia shares a border with Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered troops to go into the separatist Donetsk and Lugansk regions in eastern Ukraine after a lengthy speech in which he recognized the two regions’ independence.

Western powers decried the move and began to slap sanctions on certain Russian individuals, while Germany announced it would halt plans to go ahead with the Russia-to-Germany Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

At home, Biden is facing bipartisan pressure to take more extensive actions against Russia following Putin’s decision. However, a recent poll showed that a majority of Americans believe that sending troops to Ukraine is a “bad idea,” and a slim minority believes it’s a good one.

All 27 European Union countries unanimously agreed on an initial list of sanctions targeting Russian authorities, said French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, and EU foreign affairs head Josep Borell claimed the package “will hurt Russia … a lot.”

Earlier Tuesday, Borell asserted that Russian troops have already entered the Donbas region, which comprises Donetsk and Lugansk, which are under the control of pro-Russia groups since 2014.

And on Tuesday, the Russian Parliament approved a Putin-back plan to use military force outside of Russia’s borders as Putin further said that Russia confirmed it would recognize the expanded borders of Lugansk and Donetsk.

“We recognized the states,” the Russian president said. “That means we recognized all of their fundamental documents, including the constitution, where it is written that their [borders] are the territories at the time the two regions were part of Ukraine.”

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Putin said that Ukraine is “not interested in peaceful solutions” and that “every day, they are amassing troops in the Donbas.”

Meanwhile, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday morning again downplayed the prospect of a Russian invasion and proclaimed: “There will be no war.”

“There will not be an all-out war against Ukraine, and there will not be a broad escalation from Russia. If there is, then we will put Ukraine on a war footing,” he said in a televised address.

The White House began to signal that they would shift their own position on whether it’s the start of an invasion.

“We think this is, yes, the beginning of an invasion, Russia’s latest invasion into Ukraine,” said Jon Finer, the White House deputy national security adviser in public remarks. “An invasion is an invasion and that is what is underway.”

For weeks, Western governments have been claiming Moscow would invade its neighbor after Russia gathered some 150,000 troops along the countries’ borders. They alleged that the Kremlin would attempt to come up with a pretext to attack, while some officials on Monday said Putin’s speech recognizing the two regions was just that.

But Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters Tuesday that Russia’s “latest invasion” of Ukraine is threatening stability in the region, but he asserted that Putin can “still avoid a full blown, tragic war of choice.”

Man you fled to Europe just few weeks ago and you are already engaging in sophistry lol.

https://kiwifarms.net/forums/articles-news.79/ Here some shit and you will understand.
Just because I fled to Europe somehow makes my point any less valid?

I would like you to define "globohomo" the way you understand it, if I want to read someone else, I will read them without asking you.

What makes you think im against Taliban ? Russia is shit the problem is its still more usefull to Anti Globohomo than Ukraine. To me this isnt about Fanaticism or URAAA, to me its that retarded Ruskies are more usefull to me than Ukrainians, in normal world id be cheering on Ukraine, but this isnt normal world.
How are Russians more useful when their actions are only consolidating the west under it's convictions and beliefs? The west was on the brink of collapsing and partitioning, the EU and NATO were likely to collapse as everyone thought they were useless, the Germans report they didn't have enough ammo in storages to last a month in combat, and that fucking retard had to attack Ukraine and make certain that the west is going to double down on it's preaching while also arming itself and potentially expanding it's alliances.

Call me when Putin grows a pair and straight up shuts off the gas and oil valves, energy prices would go past the moon and you'd definitely have some serious unrest in the west far sooner then it would happen without it.

All that motherfucker had to do if he wanted the west to fall was... NOTHING, the west was a few elections away from balkanizing, just supply the gas and watch it burn, then sweep in and take the entire, severely weakened eastern part of it if he wanted to.

I'm no fan of the west but the east are objectively a retarded bunch of egomaniacs, you know that in China they still have their panties in a twist over Covid which most of the west is done with?

Sorry for the off topic shit, that's all I'll say about that here.

This more or less.

Globohomo, also known as corporate wokeness, corporate virtue signaling, or neoliberalism
In effect, this is the agenda of destroying ethnicity, nationhood, and culture in white countries, while simultaneously promoting far-left anti-natalist politics and far-right economics to keep the working class down and drowning in competition.
The ultimate end state of Globohomo is one in which all sexual, ethnic, racial and national identity is broken down, leaving the demoralized masses to work for $12 an hour in an Amazon warehouse while a small ruling class of billionaires rule over them.

Im not disagreeing that Putin definitely fucked things up, im just saying despite the immense damage he is still more usefull, just A LOT LESS USEFULL than he used to be. not happy about this war to be honest.

Forget it. They are so scared of the wolves they heard that the guy next to them sometimes feeds that they will cheer on the hungry bear eating the guy instead of worrying that the bear is hungry and known to eat people.

Anti-natalist? You do realize the governments of Europe tried to bribe their people into having more kids, right? It was only when such tactics failed did they start importing brown people by the bucketloads.

Also, the ultimate end state of GLOBOHOMO still sounds better than what most Russians get now. At least there's welfare and healthcare.

This man aged years in just a month

As much as I'm going to sound a dick. He is a comedian and TV personality, he knows how to have good makeup and lighting when needs be, its entirely likely as he was headed out with his normal entourage he batted away his makeup artist who was going through the motions.

Whether it was out of "fuck this its not the time and place and I have to go see it" or "I need to look sad and tired for the cameras" is only for God and Zelensky to know.

Nothing I've seen from Russian hardware performance indicates it's anything but 2nd or 3rd rate junk, so yes, I would assume so.

The Penguin can, IIRC, also be used against stationary land targets (although it is a waste of its capabilities).
Russian air defense systems are actually really capable, however they need to be used correctly. Examples of them being used well by the Ukrainians are replete.

In fact, the effectiveness of air defense systems varies massively based on how effective their operator is at using them, and employment of the correct tactics while doing so.

Point being, I have no doubt that with a properly trained crew, and well maintained systems that a Russian frigate is likely a difficult target to hit with an Anti-Ship missile...

However, I highly doubt those ships are in a good working order...

True, and he played it masterfully, you just have to give it to him. Even Putin looked like a massive coward compared to him

Ironically, Russians generally don't regard space outside of their apartment/house as their home and don't mind shitting it up. Every day I pass under the windows where people throw out cigarette butts after finishing smoking, so in the spring as snow retreats there's a harvest of cigarette butts, thousands of them. They litter a lot, very selfish people.
Well, if you're treating someone like cattle they will start to act accordingly.

I honestly believe that that's something that communism does to people's way of thinking if they've been under it's influence for too long. Anything outside of one's area of direct control (which is essentially limited to their dwelling) is considered communal, it belongs to everyone and thus, to no one, so nobody gives a shit.
Iunno, USSR had things like Subbontiks, when you go outside with everyone else and clean the streets from old leaves and trash and this is still a thing even now. I guess there are always two sides: pigs and people who strive for better life. Too bad everyone mixed together, so there's always someone who will shit up any good attempt.

I don't know about the makeup part, but the lighting for the shot and his expression definitely makes him look a lot older.

Putin is so full of botox he's unable to show any emotion at all.

Zelensky is a comedian and actor, but he's still sticking with his people despite being hunted by Chechens. This alone deserves shit ton of respect.
Meanwhile, Putin hides in some lair like he's Downfall Hitler or something. Completely cut off from the consequences his actions have on his people.

Pentagon can't independently confirm atrocities in Ukraine's Bucha, official says

The U.S. military is not in a position to independently confirm Ukrainian accounts of atrocities by Russian forces against civilians in the town of Bucha, but has no reason to dispute the accounts either, a senior U.S. defense official said on Monday.

"We're seeing the same imagery that you are. We have no reason whatsoever to refute the Ukrainian claims about these atrocities -- clearly, deeply, deeply troubling," the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

"The Pentagon can't independently and single handedly confirm that, but we're also not in any position to refute those claims."

The Kremlin has denied accusations related to the murder of civilians in the town.

Russia has withdrawn 2/3 of forces near Kyiv -U.S. official

Russia has repositioned about two thirds of its forces from around Kyiv, with many consolidating in Belarus where they are expected to be refit, resupplied and redeployed elsewhere in Ukraine, a senior U.S. defense official said on Monday.

Over the weekend, Ukraine said its forces had seized back all areas around Kyiv, claiming complete control of the capital region for the first time since Russia launched the invasion.

The U.S. official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told reporters the United States estimated that prior to the pullback, there had been just under 20 battalion tactical groups focused on Kyiv. That was less than a sixth of the battalion tactical groups that the Kremlin deployed for the invasion.

"We still assess that the vast, vast majority of the more than 125 battalion tactical groups that the Russians invested in this invasion are still in Ukraine," the official said.

The official estimated that Russian forces that had withdrawn from around Kyiv would likely be redirected towards eastern Ukraine, but that was still not confirmed.

"What we continue to believe is that they're going to be refit, resupplied, perhaps maybe even reinforced with additional manpower and then sent back into Ukraine to continue fighting elsewhere," the official said.

As Russian troops regrouped for battles in east Ukraine, towns surrounding Kyiv bore scars of five weeks of fighting.

The discovery of a mass grave and tied bodies shot at close range in Bucha, outside Kyiv, a town taken back from Russian troops, looked set to galvanize the United States and Europe into additional sanctions against Moscow.

The mayor in Bucha, a liberated town 37 km (23 miles) northwest of the capital, said that 300 residents had been killed by Russian forces while Chechen fighters controlled the area.

The Kremlin has denied accusations related to the murder of civilians in the town.

The U.S. military was not in a position to independently confirm Ukrainian accounts of atrocities by Russian forces against civilians in Bucha, but has not reason to dispute the accounts either, the senior U.S. defense said.

"We're seeing the same imagery that you are. We have no reason whatsoever to refute the Ukrainian claims about these atrocities -- clearly, deeply, deeply troubling," the official added.

The defense official did not challenge Russia's claims over the weekend that it carried out an airstrike on an oil depot in Odessa. But the reasoning for the strike was not entirely clear, the official said, as speculation persists about a possible amphibious assault on the city.

"It could be that they are simply doing that (strike) to try to pin down Ukrainian forces there, make them think that there's something big coming in Odessa and so that they stay and try to protect the city," the official said.

Reactions: secret watcher
I see the same mentality in China, but not in US colonies where many towns have "commons" i.e. common area upkept by all. Also in Ukraine a lot of smaller towns that got fed up with shitty roads and luck of budget, outright chipped in as a town and rebuilt their roads. Common is not always "not mine", I think that's just mentality and Russia has always been more Asian in its mentality than European /Western.

some of these Russian propaganda vids are lolcow treasures:

Very based of the Russkies if it was real as it'd mean deleting journoscum propagandists, but it probably wasn't.
