2024 could be real interesting. The Dems have 21 seats up then, and that includes several red/purple-state seats held by Dems: AZ, MI, MT, NV, OH, WI, WV. Meanwhile the GOP will probably only need to defend FL (Scott) and TX (Zodiac Killer). Also, Romney will likely face a strong primary challenge. Then there's the Trump effect to consider. But two years is a long time in politics, especially these days.

Well if it's any consolation, where I live in the state the only political ads I'm seeing for the NC Senate primary are one for Ted Budd, who was endorsed by Trump, and one that attacks former governor Pat McCrory for being a RINO. Not sure if that means the Republican nomination will come down between these two candidates but it's interesting I haven't any other Republican ads or even ads for Democrat primary nominees.

Where I live in the state, the ads I'm seeing are for Kelly Daughtry, who's running to be the House Representative for NC's 4th congressional district.
“After prayerful consideration, and thankful for the support of my family, I will run for Congress. I have never before run for office. I am not a politician, but like many Americans I am concerned President Biden is leading our country down the wrong road. I’m troubled by the return of inflation and its impact on our local economy,” Daughtry said. “I also look at the mess in Washington and shake my head. It’s time to clean up the mess in politics. Our country needs leaders who will level with us – and who have the courage to stand on their own two feet and do what’s right. I’ll stand firm for our conservative values each and every day,” Daughtry remarked.

George Holding, the former Republican United States Representative for North Carolina's 2nd congressional district, has endorsed her, so make of that what you will.
“We’re not going to stop out-of-control spending, inflation, and open borders by electing more politicians to Washington. To fix our broken politics we have to elect outsiders who won’t go along to get along. Kelly Daughtry has the backbone to tell Washington politicians from Joe Biden to Nancy Pelosi: No more. The politicians won’t like that. But that’s the leadership we need. No one’s about to confuse Kelly Daughtry with a politician,” Holding said.

“Andrew”??? I prefer to call him by his real name, Robert Francis. It reinforces that he’s a pasty cracker trying to appropriate a Latino identity to try and score updoots from TX Hispanics. He’s fucking gringo trash who deserves nothing but contempt from the choir he’s trying to play to.

Beta is *still* their best choice, though. For some reason, a lot of people really like him and see him as some sort of charismatic RFK-esque figure. Open progressives generally don’t work, and while Beta fits that mold to a T, there is still a sizable population that looks at him as a moderate choice (especially when juxtaposed against people like Jessica Cisneros). So he’s got some star power (probably residual from his first senate run), and that really benefits the democrats because:

1.) They have no new faces to run that are remotely winnable in the state, and they have to run SOMEBODY, lest they cease to exist as a party. Beta is a great throwaway candidate. Why?
2.) Because he’s able to pull in fundraising. People inside and outside of TX love to throw money at him, so not only can he sustain his own campaign (thanks partly to his wife coming from money), but…
3.) The money he pulls in can be used to support vulnerable democrats in other states. 2022 is looking like it’ll be a bloodbath, and the democrats are going to have to sink whatever money they have left into states that they really shouldn’t have to (VA and the NJ governor’s race are good examples of foreshadowing). If they’re having to pump money into normally-safe states, which is something they obviously dread, TX is going to be really low on their list of priorities.

In summary, Beta is a relatively self-sufficient candidate who doesn’t need money from the DNC. The democrats can instead use him to generate funds for more urgent needs, while still appearing to give a shit about TX. And Beta himself gets another go in the sandbox to keep himself entertained, while boosting his profile further. Everybody wins.

Edit: Yeah, TX is faced with a reeaall tough choice.

I couldn't remember his actual name since he's such a fag he rivals Buttigieg, so thanks for the correction. We'll see how much value he actually has in terms of fundraising for them though, since I feel the Dems have been trapped by their own rhetoric about turning Texas purple, so they're going to be forced to spend money on Beto to pump him up as a viable candidate. Last time he was up against the Zodiac Killer he blew millions the Dems desperately needed elsewhere... money they probably won't have in 2024, because they sure as shit don't have it now.

I'm curious what people here think of the WA-3 race. Besides Beutler and Kent, there's also Heidi St. John, who said she would drop out if she didn't get Trump's endorsement but stayed in the race after Kent got the endorsement and now runs tons of attack ads against Kent, calling him a Portland Bernie Bro. Kent seems to concede that he voted for Bernie in a primary, but says he never voted for a D in a general election. I think it's gearing up for a cluster that allows a D candidate to slip through.

Honestly, I hope every corrupt nigga on earth does this. It would be funny as fuck for democrats.

Putin, do your thing. It would cause the biggest meltdown ever. When called out, say your elections are just using the same processes as the west and any criticism is like George Floyd getting knee necked.

McCarthy and co. all endorsed her primary challenger. Liz is fucking finished, and not in the "Ha, ha. Blumpf rides again!" sense.
