To be a little bit more serious, Ukraine chose this path, thinking they were more influential than they actually were. The only winning move for them was to never play. Being apart of NATO doesn’t guarantee non-aggression (Greece/Turkey). They would have had a lot more influence in Europe if they were a mediator, now they’re going to be Russian or American puppet state. They’re probably never going to get into the EU as their country was already decades behind economically before the war and dead last in Europe. They’d be lucky to end up with a few recessions and not be drowned in hyper-inflation or end up as an African-tier subsistence economy.
