Eastern Europes plains is a lot like the American great plains. Great farming land, and rich with resources. The curse it's lands of countless genocides. The American gift is that most of the natives were too few and the Americans too many for them to make a difference by the time we fully controlled the great plains.

It really is insane how much of a geographic advantage america has solely by virtue of having a continents worth of easily accessed and exploited land and resources under the control of a single unified nation.

Sure there are other nations like Russia/canada/australia/brazil/china that control the same kinds of resources in their borders but they are a massive geographical bitch to get at by comparison due to difficulty of access and inhospitability.

The biggest Burger advantage is geographic isolation. Spheres of influence and buffer states are incomprehensible to the American who is protected from all but one nation, that being Mexico since Canada is gay, by the ocean. So too is war in the sense Europe understands it because the Burger has never had to worry about a foreign nation destroying his cities as anything except as a hypothetical, with the exception of the Civil War.

I saw an article the other day titled something like "Russian troops torture and murder a woman before burning a swastika into her." The actual article says that one of Ukraine's ministers alleges that a woman Russia alleges was tortured by Azov was actually raped by Russian troops, and quote "neither claim can be verified." Of course the headline told a different story. If Russia IS committing atrocities and shit, fuck them, it's wrong and I'll not support them anymore myself, but I bet that every article out there claiming supposed Russian warcrimes has something buried in the article that says "btw these are just unsourced allegations we can't prove they're real."

Just FYI, this story came about when some Ukrainian governmental official reposted picture of said girl's swastika'd tummy after the actual story got covered by this guy.

Yeah I remember vice news back pre 2016 used to do real journalism and they went to the Moscow Victory parade in 2014 something all tourists should see once in their life. (It's a festive/remeberence holiday.) You could see footage of T-14 tanks suffering engine failures and stalling out in the early parade formation. I'd like to believe the truth is somewhere in the middle, because neither of these two extremes appeals to me in the slightest.

I mean I think Russians should have a strong pride in their nation. But I would argue that the Russians have only a slightly less parasitic relationship to their neighbors then china does. This isn't because of Russia or the tsar this relationship is a result of the decades of committees and politburo meetings. My problem is neither side has a realistic scenario on how to end this war. I look at it like geography. Russia should cut at the Kniepe river and give Mariupol as a Ukrainian city state and say sure you can join NATO we have our buffer zone at least.

The pollution we have today is nothing compared to what Victorian era pollution was like. Victorian cities used to be covered with thick layers of soot and ash. Society at large has never been more tolerant of outcasts like LGBTQ, ethnic and religious minorities. Let's look at infant mortality and the average age. Most people within the modern world can expect at least to live into their 60s-70s. The world had gotten better from 1960-2020.

We're being exterminated by our own collective hands. We're not being gassed or killed by war we're dying off because we're in a malaise and addicted to porn and feminism.
