basically, you just need to get a decent GP.
Go and register with a place, make an appointment, strike up a relationship with a Dr who seems decent; try a few Dr's at the practice til you find one you gel with, then with one whose preferably a woman, discuss your concerns in advance to make sure she'll be onboard so you dont get struck out of the blue and risk feeling awful for ages:
if it seems like the Dr's might be iffy, just register somewhere else; it doesnt cost, you're within your rights to change surgeries for whatever reason, it's not Dr shopping unless you're blatantly sniffing all round for codeine and valium.
if your fam here are working class, they will have had that typical thing of not wanting to be a bother to the Dr, not having the confidence to argue thier case.
Luckily my mam was a nurse so she knows how to talk to Dr's with an amount of authority, but i see it all the time with other relatives who didnt get that amount of education and darent advocate for themsleves or even share information confidently.
It will be fine, you just need to find a nice practice and GP, and get in ahead of time so you're prepared.
-RE the middle class mumsnetters having thier own problems- though I'm sure they have no trouble advocating for themselves, there is a certain type of (tbf, Olly etcs raving TERF stereotype) woman who will generally be clcoked by health professionals as 'the worried well' or basically just a bit entitled.
They might to be in every week for one thing or another, Little Sophia ‘has’ a wheat AND dairy AND nut allergy, and little Oliver must be one the spectrum’ because he’s occasionally rude and cba:
Basically i the middle class entitlement swinging too far in the other direction- If you just be a nice, normal cunt, with a good Doctor you should be good
