highlighting these two statements as they're pretty emblematic of the issue here.
Let's be real here though the # of people actually posting "unhinged rrats" regarding Niji isn't particularly large either. At worst a large portion of the people here are apathetic about Niji not actually antagonistic.
But if the folks here that do follow Niji heavily just throw their hands up and don't refute bad info then you're right, you get the thread you aim to create. You just give in to the antis. This vtuber shit aint like the other threads on this site where it's super fast and easy to find info and everyone can fact check every little thing. someone posting something incorrect about say Boogie2988 or Gunt in their threads will be quickly fact checked by that thread because everyone in the thread is keeping an eye on them.. Someone saying something incorrect about a vtuber here, when not everyone here is following that vtuber in particular, and it's not quickly accessable as there's a good chance it's not even in English, is a lot harder to fact check so to some extent it falls to the people that are watching it to set the record straight.
this whole "it's not the nijifans job to deal with niji minsinfo" logic is bafflingly stupid. who the hell else is equipped to refute it? Don't get me wrong I know it's annoying at times and I've argued some less than popular opinions in this thread before as well even specifically regarding Niji back when people here liked to pretend that NijiEN was some sort of flop or failure.
The persecution complex shit is just tired at this point, plenty of folks in this thread give you positive responses when you post about Niji content, but you get all melodramatic because Rezza says something stupid or uninformed. And you don't really help your case when nearly as often as he does, you fall to the same tribalistic bait nonsense when it suits you.
Aint sayin this to shit on you, you do genuinely put up some informative content in this thread when you aren't getting caught up in backhanded slapfights with holofans. But yeah this defeatest attitude and blaming everyone else for it just aint it chief.
I appreciate the response.
Firstly, I'd like to clear one thing up: I'm not blaming anyone. It's natural social interaction that the thing most people relate to will act as the lynchpin of discussion. In this thread, that 'thing' is Hololive, and not 'V-Tubers', so when things of interest aren't happening, it's normal for the idle discussion to be about Hololive.
As a naturally occurring symptom of this, it means that the things I personally like don't get talked about until they reach that threshold of becoming a point of interest. This is all fine and not something that I necessarily want to change, as the only remedy to this is forcing people to talk about Hololive less and Nijisanji more, and I don't like that.
In regards to my 'not my responsibility' comment, I was not saying that it isn't my responsibility to fact-check Nijisanji info, but rather that it shouldn't be my responsibility to try and unravel /vt/ rrats that get presented here as they were posted there - which I maintain is where a majority of our info comes from.
It's perfectly fine with me if I was tagged in a post that said 'Hey Scuttle, I saw this posted and wanted you to check on it', but things normally get presented here with the membrane of /vt/ schizo agenda still intact. This happens with Holo stuff too, but Holo has the luxury of most people willing to figure it out before a judgement is made, whereas others do not.
Tone is very important in changing impressions and swaying the direction of a conversation, so if people want me to act as the Niji Journalist, I only ask for people to reserve judgement on a situation until I've come back with my findings/opinions. It would certainly go some way to curb feeling like I'm fighting an uphill battle to not only correct people, but also race to get my corrections out before the unchecked doomposting/rampant speculation begins.
