RWBY - The Hindenburg on which Rooster Teeth rests its hopes, dreams and future

Side note: Holy shit, I did not realize CJ accused Arryn of lying about her own abuse when there's "no evidence," as though abuse can always be empirically proven. Big talk from a man who broke up with his girlfriend because he couldn't help but m'lady cosplayers.
All I've ever known from the occasional qrts I have spotted is he is constantly shitting on RWBY. That energy is better spent on other things...like shitting on Arryn for never properly addressing the person who replied to her directly in her tweet that is still up to this day.

When I see or hear "it's just like the Eva rebuilds" or "it's just canon-adjacent bro" all I hear is "it's meaningless shit to rip you off with stories that won't matter to the story you're supposed to care about".

It's all garbage anyway.
Yeah but like, the “story you’re supposed to care about” is RT RWBY. Staying as far away from its “canon” is the only way for related projects to not be automatically tainted by association.

The Remnants crew did a Q and A.
1:29:44: "In regards to [LGBT representation/shipping] I mean, uhh... I think what uuuh a lot of people cite when it comes to like uhh shipping in RWBY was they would cite like uuuh what Monty said about like uuuuh...."

So, basically I'm uuuh first of all, I'm uuuh basically, basically I'm uuuh, I'm uuuh... and first of all I'm uuh basically first of all... I'm with autism I don't know how to use words.

Between that and the people talking...say what you will about Celtic Phoenix, at least he knows how to structure a stream.

32:40: "Is there a class disconnect between the faunus between the different kingdoms?"

Who cares? Also, Faunus are now called Diamons, and they're emphasizing less on that they're "animal people" and more their "association with the Grimm." Jesus fucking christ. Just write your own story. He even admits he's reworking everything.

54:20: "Syto and Dazco sat me down in a call and basically gave me a university lecture on some of the lore as background and context for a character."

:story:Star Wars EU has ruined a whole generation of writers.

Also, one of the women has this obnoxious tone where she's trying to make herself sound like a toddler. I know there's a minor on this project, and that might be her, but even then it's exaggerated.

I'll give SYTO the benefit of the doubt and assume he actually meant to call the faunus daimons, which IIRC is the original Greek spelling for demons and would fit with the stronger ties between the faunus and the grimm. Even though his accent made it sound like diamonds.

But that Q&A did not inspire a lot of confidence at all and it seems that he too fell into the beginners trap of being fixed way too much on worldbuilding and way too much style over substance.

Why must SYTO feel the need to add that, and can't he and his team literally just write it so that Faunus are pretty much a slave race and tie them in with dust instead? I don't know what's with the terminally autistic watching this shitshow and coming up to the same conclusion of "let's associate the animal people with grimm". The show, despite it's clusterfuck of a lore, had already given them more than enough things to work with and make the racial/class stuggle practically work by making dust relevant again yet somehow they just walk over that opportunity and just come up with the most outlandish takes in writing I've heard.

So I can't believe SYTO just fused what is essentially a minority race in RWBY, and a species of man-eating darkness monsters, and turned them into Sailor Moon monster people. Hell, Daimons were actually one of the many Monster of the Week Species (Season 3 aka S). Even how the Canadian English dub mispronounces them as "Diamonds".

By making a minority race radically different, fusing them with inherently negative traits, or giving them OP abilities that are too much for ordinary humans to handle without extreme force, you create a perspective that the normies hating on them is partially justified.

God, how can he fuck up even harder than CRWBY in this aspect, let alone Isayama and his "Giant Cannibal Anime Jews", and Stan Lee's "OP Superpower Not-Black Allegories"!?

They could yeah, and then didn’t they totally forget that by Volume 7?
I know that when Illia tried to hide in that dark room RT showed that they don't know how the concept of "camouflage" works. I think that was V5 though so it looks like they forgot about faunus night vision all the way back then.

Yep. You hit the nail on the head. Although honestly, I don’t think the show has always played pretty fast and loose with things like rules and limits.

According to the commentary, she "blended into the darkness".
Faunus do have better night vision than humans, but in the fight Ilia is using her camouflage in the darkness. So that does hide her better.

Writing? Prose? Storytelling? Dialogue? My worldbuilding channels didn't tell me about those, so they must not be important!

let alone Isayama and his "Giant Cannibal Anime Jews"
If that's what you got from Attack on Titan, I have news about your media literacy.

This is true. Their precious worldbuilding is going to exaggerate a major problem of the real show's storytelling. Lmao.

Still funny after all these years. Even funnier was that their first confirmed gay character was a terrorist with incel characteristics.
