Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

I'm hoping that Legacy Motormaster has some inspiration from FanToys' Roadking.

Roadking was the only third party masterpiece Motormaster that converted the whole trailer as part of the bot. Something as big as MP-10 vehicle mode was just as tall as MP-10 robot mode.

I need to see what they do!

I tend to go more for Decepticons over Autobots as well. Their designs are usually more interesting than the Autobots, and everyone knows that villains are way cooler and more fun than heroes. I mean, just look at how badass Scorponok (G1, not Beast Wars) and Trypticon, and are way more interesting than Metroplex and Fort Max. Soundwave mops the floor with Blaster. The Autobots only got one cool Triple Changer (Springer), but the Decepticons got Blitzwing, Octane, and Astrotrain, all three really cool designs, and Octane as a character is really fascinating. He tried to usurp Galvatron's position, got kicked out of the Decepticons to become an independent, and befriended Autobot Sandstorm and went on to have a good working relationship with him. So I have more Decepticons than I do Autobots, but only by like three or four figures.

I tend to prefer Autobots more when it comes to toys, the decepticons might be more interesting fiction wise, but toy wise they're a little more bland than the autobots usually.
I mean their 84 line up is 3 of the same guy in different colors, a gun, a tape recorder and some tapes, compared to a huge variety of different car molds for the autobots.
Scorponok's original toy is nowhere near as complex or interesting as Fort Max, and as much as I like Astrotrain, Blitzwing's always been pretty scuffed, and Sandstorm is easily the most well done Triplechanger from the first six.
Soundwave's a weird one, visually and lore wise hes way cooler than Blaster but with every toy of them, especially the G1 ones I always prefer Blaster, he just usually has more going on.

He doesn't. Trailer looks like it's just the shell for the combiner.

That's not a bad thing given how much they (Hasbro) threw at the toy engineer for making the figure work with a supposed budget. I wouldn't expect a $300 transformation for a $60 figure.

They're repacking soundwave, I guess this means we're getting Slugfest, Overkill, Beastbox, and Squaktalk down the line.

I can't believe a real G2 Comic Jhiaxus, it looks like it shares tooling with the seeker mold.

Motormaster's base mode looks real nice, I guess I'll have to get the team to go along with my Combiner Wars Menasors and have them in different modes.

Tarantulas is coming with his Transmetal accessory sawblade, I guess that means those will be coming eventually.

Not always the case. Though it would be nice to see the main ones get their Transmetal forms and bring in Rampage.
 
I think elita-1 is going to be reused for characters like Nautica. Same body proportions and has the upper backpack kibble. That car could easily be made into a sub.

I also like how SG Magnus can become him or Diaclone Powered Conoy.

Wouldn't be hard to do. Wheels need to be redone and she has the ports on her arms to put "wings" on them. It would look a lot better than a slight retool of Blur.
 
With Magnus coming with an alternate head, it would certainly be nice if this started to become a thing with other types of figures. Like a new Bumblebee figure coming with a new head so you can make him Bumper or something. Just so you can accessorize and have a new character rather than just buying the same character over and over .
 
I'm not really into menasaur and his "i'll just form the combiner myself" look, but it Will be miles better then the combiner wars one.
 
I'm shocked jhiaxus is a completely new mold when he could easily have just been an upscaled and retooled scourge. His alt mode would have been more smooth and accurate if that were the case, but that's just how life is and even the inaccurate one looks kinda cool. My one issue aside from the nonsensical palacement of the cybertronian cockpit frame greebling is the return of the soapy apeface plastic. I guess they interpreted the white and black shiny marvel silver as white instead of grey despite galvatron having the same thing going for him in those comics.

He genuinely looks fucking great, though. Glad they worked in his little uncomfortably close to the head shoulder cannon thing. Dude's like the quintessons where he's been an established character for decades but they never made a figure of his original design till now.

Jhiaxus is beautiful, I’m gonna actually get all three major G2 comic characters by the end of the year. Hallelujah
