One of the perks of destroying airstrips is forcing planes to make emergency landings on unstable flat ground. We've seen how muddy and awful Ukrainian terrain is for driving tanks over so just imagine a plane trying to land on that type of land.

Now combine that with an entire cargo of explosives and oh boy, you do NOT want to be the guy who screws up a landing.

Aren't runways reasonably easy to repair post war? Wouldn't it be benefitial to just bomb every runway in Ukraine in order to seriously limit inbound supplies without harming civilians?

Dnipro airport has been demolished. Interesting because outside of Hostomel, I don't believe the Russians have destroyed any airports (i.e. in Keeyv or Kharkiv). My guess is they were concerned about supplies being flown in to support the AFU troops in Donbass. This also may signal that the Russians intend to advance further along the Dnieper after the Donbass is fully liberated.

I believe the Vinnytsia Airport was also targeted early in the war. Though from the looks of things then, they only destroyed the main terminal, but not the runways, etc.

I'm guessing the symbolism in this video doesn't translate to American. The main thing I get out of it is, "The Russian bodies will be left to rot and be eaten by beasts in the streets and fields." Well, that doesn't exactly sound like a victorious army ready to head toward Moscow. It sounds like an insurgent force planning to operate for a really long time in an enemy military occupied country. So, that's at least a somewhat more realistic assessment of where this war is headed than we get from a lot of other pro-Ukie sources.

Eh hitting airstrips is pretty standard. I wish we had pictures to see what they meant by destroyed, my guess is they cratered the fuck out of the runway.

its also pretty irrelevant. Ukraine is not operating out of its front line airfields. They are using the ones further back in the Lviv region. From the looks of things Russia is setting up for a major push on Kharkiv. Good luck I suppose. If they could not catch Kiev on the jump at the start of this war after a month and with largely intact infrastructure and strategic surprise, I don't see how they can take Kharkiv now.

Again, the issue is they did not bring in enough men. And the way the roads are laid out, its not so easy to encircle Kharkiv from the West and South. Not unless they can bring all the boys up from Mariople and through the Ukrainian southern front. But since they are still stuck fighting in Mariople thats not happening any time soon. Russia is going to need a MONTH to organize the troops and supplies for a major urban offensive around Kharkiv, but I don't see them taking that time since Putin is demanding they have this shit wrapped up by May.

Which means they are going to go for it now, and its going to be another stupendous fiasco. Already getting reports of more traffic jams backing up the highway from Russia to Kharkiv. They are making the exact same mistake they made in Kiev. Its not going to work.

You know what - horrifying as that is I might be able to top it for Ukranian propaganda videos. Anyone seen this? It's apparently made by some Ukranian and doing the rounds. The imagery is disturbing as Hell and I'd need someone else to translate it for me. But has this already been posted and / or know the source?

Well, you’re right of course. Probably because the Russians understand opsecs and the Ukies have nothing to brag about, which seems to indicate that their shit is absolutely being pushed in. We probably won’t see much content for a while unless NATO does something really stupid and escalates this conflict to go beyond the Ukraine.
