I don't think it started out as a plot if one exists, though at this point I think it's hard to ignore that some kind of plot or plots seem to exist.

I do remember those days pretty vividly and pretty much everyone was making things, anything, and seeing if it would pop. It was a time of extraordinary creativity by far flung groups of nerds doing what they loved to do. Remember the first iphone came out in 2007, and while that represents the beginning of the end in retrospect, at the time it was just one more neat thing. Also, at the time google both had the motto "don't be evil" and at least as far as we could tell, stood by it.

At that time social media was still firmly in the myspace days, that magical time of tiled gifs & bgmusic tags, and facebook was just beginning to make inroads which wouldn't cement their dominance for another few years.

And consequently as I remember things, we didn't really see anything come of it until the early 2010s when internet phones and social media really started refining their formulas.

In my view if a unified plot, or even multiple strictly speaking unrelated plots (that magically have near identical objectives, hello plausible deniability!), hatched, it was during those intervening years. Glowies, especially psyops glowies, never really go away, it's one thing my more conspiratorial friend has shown me in rather stark detail. They just move from think tank to think tank or government contracting gig and they just keep doing their thing to the detriment of everyone. They show up in the darnest places, you never know who their true masters are, and they seem to always have their fingers in whatever pies they can find.

A few years of constant hiring at places like Google, Apple, and Facebook in the late 2000s and early 2010s...what's a glowie or ten between friends? It's absolutely shocking what the right credentials can do for you in the tech world especially if naive young nerds are doing the hiring, and something tells me that anyone with enough "behavioral analysis" related accomplishments or credentials is going to get onboarded really quick when these companies all started scrambling to figure out how to make money around this same time.

All this to say I don't think it started evil, I think it started as a coincidence born of profit motive and creative energy, but evil has absolutely taken the reigns since then and if I had to guess has been infesting things easily since the early 2010s if not somewhat before that. There was way too big of a potential power vacuum for professional control freaks to ignore, especially considering the potential for a bloodless strategy of tension. All the advantages without any of the drawbacks if you retool it just right, and based on how things have gone I'd say they did a good job, to the detriment of literally everyone.

It also occurs to me that operation choke point saw its genesis around the early 2010s as well, an Obama DOJ project which paved the way for the complete unpersoning we see today as that was the first major experimentation with using the banking system to fuck people over. Of course it was couched as "consumer protection and prosecution of scammers", but it is where the unaccountable people deplatforming from the banking system without leaving a papertrail was perfected as far as I can tell.

I would go down killing any many of these fuckers as I could, even if my only weapons would be kitchen knives and cleaning cocktail.

It's such a horrendous abuse of life, and disregard for the individual. Par for the course for China, but this sort of bull shit could easily take over the US. For the greater good is such a poisonous philosophy.

After watching my own NPC herd, I don't think it would be that difficult to walk them into accepting they have to smother their own elderly parents to save resources for the planet, even here in Burgerland. Nearly all of them have pets, though. I am not sure how much they would resist if the government told them they have to murder their pets now or else they aren't the most devouted to the faith.

The thing with the cats and dogs is horrific. Also I don’t understand why they’re taking cov positive people to camps and locking them up but also locking other people up in their homes and they can’t leave without being arrested or beaten . Why? Just leave everyone locked up in their homes at least and don’t murder their pets. My god, what is happening
