Nexpo/YT Horror Channels - Do they all suck

What else do folks not like about PlaguedMoth?

I used to be subbed but got bored after he started talking more about his personal life, the constant shitty jokes, his general meh narration quality and questionable reactions to gore. His video on the Lathe incident was when I checked out.
The fact that 95% of his viewers aren't allowed into his Discord, but "sex workers" are welcomed with open arms.
And his liberal rants in general (I still haven't figured out what his daughter being pansexual has to do with someone's brutal murder).

His virtue signalling over the LGBTQHGSIS 'community'. He's surprisingly preachy for a gore hound.

That's kinda unexpected. Always assumed it was just like a regular discord group. Out of all of this though, his "Fuck you, don't skip through my video, I'm talking" gets annoying fast.

Double posting here, sorry but I gotta mention this again.

Kind of an old video of Moth's, but this sums up his distasteful attitude towards the gore videos he watches.

https://youtu.be/7nCAoxrVR5g

For those that didn't watch, the video shows Moth reacting to poorly blurred CCTV footage of a man working with a Lathe machine, gets his jacket sleeve stuck in the machine and proceeds to have his body spin around, violently getting torn apart by the lathe ending in a co-worker seeing the bloody gorey mess, freaking out then running away.

The title of the video itself "From Man to Mist to Legend" and Moth's reaction to the accident is down right disrespectful.
I get that he's meant to be Mr Edgy Man™️ but the glorification and fetishism of gore makes him look like a creep.

Initially, he pretended that he had respect/care for the subjects of his videos. The more videos he made, however, it became clear that he only derived entertainment from them. He also enioys signaling to the world how strong his constitution is.

These aren't Hollywood special effects, they're real people who suffered terrible deaths and he just smirks at them. I don't think it's moralfaggy to expect someone to have empathy for other human beings. He goes on and on about certain groups of people being treated poorly, yet he gets off on literal torture.

Nexpo's videos have great production value, but for fucks sake he drags things out way too long imo. At most I put him on in the background while I write because his voice is pleasant, as monotonous as it is. The moment he tried to mimic Night Mind (who's even more annoying) he lost his charm, the little he had.

Disturban's video's are pretty great though. The recent rabies one really makes me wanna be more careful around the strays at my apartment complex. No one should have to die like that.

Thank goodness we got people that respect a Creator's work for it not for to become lost media. KingSpook had a live stream this morning which he privated but in it he said he suffering from depression and having family troubles and all that other typical garbage.

Don't know why he's having a midlife crisis or even purged his entire channel of his content as he was one of my favorite narrators for reading creepypastas/horror stories in general. He could have at least have one more video saying he will not upload to the channel and that it would just be archive only. That way people could still appreciate his work and he wouldn't have anything to do with it anymore.

I tell ya I don't know what goes on most people's heads nowadays.

It's always the quality content creators that so quickly and easily blink-off the radar for no apparent reason. First I've heard of the one you're talking about, but all the ones I knew had extremely thin skin and took all negative comments to heart, resulting in worsening of whatever was gnawing at them. I guess that for them deleting their videos cuts off all negative feedback or some shit. Well, not that it doesn't, but it's always a pain to see your favorite videos disappear like that.

New ScareTheater

Honestly I would've preferred him never coming back instead of coming back and doing whatever this shit is
That could have been creepy if it were uploaded on a random channel with no context and people found it years later or something. Better than his last video at least.

holy shit .2picoseconds in and this guy is the biggest, most annoying faggot I've ever heard
I've been wanting to make a post about that since it's release, but it took me a little time to watch the whole thing.

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned Explore With Us being a poor comparison to Matt Orchard and Jim Can't Swim. They are better than the majority producing low effort True Crime content and have a good choice in subjects. However, they often feel more exploitative, especially in their thumbnails, their analysis didn't feel or wasn't at least conveyed as well as JCS, and their telling of the narrative of the crime wasn't as exceptional as it is with Matt Orchard. I watched their content, but I wasn't excited for a new one like JCS or Orchard.

An example of one of their thumbnails that I think are in poor taste, the one I really disliked was a picture of a girl with the quote "Are all of your holes like that?" Obviously implying something sexual, but it was discussing a first attempt at a shallow grave. I'm guessing however that video has gotten pulled down from Youtube as it was a recent one.

This is a recent example of one where the case was interesting, but they presentation distracted me. It's a man who murdered his girlfriend and shot her brother, while on the run from the law shot and killed a cop trying to arrest him. The interrogation is interesting cause it catches examples of stuff that could be considered police brutality, he's hurt real bad getting interrogated, asking for a doctor they say is coming, but they haven actually called for. He's got handcuffs on too tight that were the ones issued to the cop he killed. The narrator implies during the interrogation coverage that there are dramatic revelations from the trial that impact the interpretation of what the officers are doing. I started thinking there was something interesting there, he was going to beat charges due to the police brutality, mistakes they made in the rush to convict him, or the actual events of the crime being different than presented in the interrogation. Instead, he just convicted, and the premise that they set up of the trial having startling revelations were completely false. It was still an interesting video over all, but that false promotion soured me a bit.

We get to this latest one, and it really highlights some changes that's been made to the channel. In recent videos they started listing the credentials of those analyzing the interogation. They emphasize this is never before seen footage and talked about having a "team of experts" that analyzed the case. It initially felt very insecure to me. However, they did something further in this video that irks me. They are now reaching out to people on social media that knew the criminals, to get interviews. I don't know why it bothers me, its really just doing research, but it feels... try hard? They did read the email response from someone that refused the interview that may of tipped me over on disliking this aspect they are adding.

The video really is great, but it weighs more on the content than the presentation. I'll give them credit, there is a talent to finding good content to cover, but there is just something about that channel that puts me off.

Subscribe to Matt Orchard though, Jesus Christ Explore with Us has 10x the subscriber count he does, and Matt deserves it so much more.

For true crime I like That Chapter. He doesn't shy away from adult language, and makes it entertaining without feeling exploitative or disrespectful in my opinion. He's not afraid to call someone a piece of shit.

I also like MrBallen, even though he tries to push so many different ways to access his content versus actually creating content. Plus he doesn't provide many actual details, and shows a lot of "not the real scrap metal found at the scene" types of pictures. But it's just a guy telling a story in a way that feels natural, like That Chapter and Wendigoon.

Disturban and Explore With Us are generally pretty good. Some of the earlier EWU stuff, especially the girl they had, feels very try-hard. The content is interesting even if the recitation doesn't feel natural like the above.

These "disturbing internet" videos a super lame. Nexpo does a better job with this shit, even when half of those types of videos are shitty Reddit ghost stories. I like the format though and some of the things showcased on these videos can be kind of interesting or spooky, wish there were videos like this for "deep internet" type shit, like obscure videos/websites.

Agreed on That Chapter and Wendigoon. Both manage to be informative and entertaining while not veering too far into saccharine victim deifying or goreporn. That sincerity (dare I say, authenticity) makes them more watchable than most content creators. Mike Oh (That Chapter) did a Patreon AMA a while back that included him getting toasted on a few beers, showing off his parent's Christmas tree and holding up his cat Charlie. Wholesome shit.

I imagine it is for monetization reasons, but it drives me crazy how often EWU changes their thumbnails and titles. The changes are usually clickbaity, cringy, and they misrepresent the interrogation altogether. At first, I thought they were doing it as a sneaky way to renew interest in a video if its view count was slowing down, but it is most likely a monetization issue.

Matt Orchard is indeed the best, but the motherfucker doesn't upload nearly as frequently as EWU, hence the lack of subscribers.
