Folks, if you are going to post Russian/Ukrainian-language text, please provide at least a gist of what's being said. Can read Cyrillic but know only a very limited number of words, outside cognates. Otherwise what is posted has no impact on the discussion here - could be important info. Thanks!
When did you learn to read Russian? Was it part of standard Cold War officer training?

Did Lithuania elect a random mall walker as PM?

So about these sanctions.

The Austrian chancellor visited Russia and had a nice chat with Vladimir Putin. His stance? "Open the humanitarian corridors NOW. Oh, and we'll keep ramping up the sanctions."

Why should he be doing what they are telling him to do again? They are not even offering him a graceful way to bow out. This is not diplomacy.

So far everyone leaves comments whenever they post something with Cyrillics, dunno what you are on about.
And for Russian language I suggest installing Yandex translate app. It can do live translation via camera just like google lens does. Just better when it comes to Russian. Pretty sure it doesn't require you to register or anything like that.

Yes, because Ukraine had a long history of free and fair elections since independence...oh wait no they didn't.
Wait.... you're telling me that the EU and NATO were cozying up to a nation awash in political corruption? I'm shocked, I tell you. I suppose you're going to tell me that the famed "international observers" were lying, too, when they judged said election "free and fair"?

Don't act like pre 2014 was sunshine and rainbows.
Your words.

I'm getting the vibe the EU has moved from hand wringing about the situation to being downright gleeful at how much this situation is bleeding Russia. I suppose to them it's like seeing the school bully gretting drop kicked by that quiet little kid nobody really paid much attention too.

It seems childish, but then most western leaders are the grown children of the Silent Generation that actually put the work in to build these complex international systems.

One very useful thing during this war is the fact that yandex can translate images, particularly all these screencaps being thrown around. People should still be screencapping a translation, but it is what it is.

Seems like a performative gesture for his own benefit, offering Putin anything would be unpopular, threatening or yelling at him, however, would bring in the updoots, even if there's nothing productive coming from it.

Columns of the Russian army under the Imperial and St. Andrew's flag are advancing to help Donbass.

-We will never unite, imperialist

-Of course, you red menace. You'll answer for my great-grandfather, yet!

-Let's go denazify Ukraine)

-Of course, and decommunize)

Devastating

Anyway, Russian seethe about their unprovoked invasion being called an unprovoked invasion notwithstanding, Mr. Sergey Lavrov, foreign minister of unprovoked Russia, today declared that the war is about preventing American domination of the world

Needless to say, other than kook idiots on the internet who will chug down whatever mug of horse piss and Putin cum is given to them, this explanation notedly has nothing to do with Jew Nazis or muh oppressed volk, it's just we were butthurt they like the globohomo better than us so we attacked them. Brilliant. Surely this will swing opinion in Europe towards the last hope of the huwhite race. 'Don't be friends with people we don't like or we smack you' is diplomacy with a long and sterling history. I 'member Murica being charged with doing the same, not approvingly of course. It's just different when a dead gopnik country does it as opposed to a dead nigger one I suppose

Ukrainian refugees in a new reality.

"Do not forget about discounts in stores. They are obliged to us and always show your passport and demand branded clothes, which you can get almost for nothing."

-Good evening. Since the trains are still free, I wanted to show Paris to the older children of 16 and 18 years old. Do you know where you can stay for 2 nights?

-No, I do not know where to stay for 2 nights to see Paris. It's a little early for us, those who are now helping refugees organize tours around Paris and engage in free resettlement.

Well, I guess the /pol/ post about some of them using their passports as free meal tickets turned out to be true.
