Because our society is funded on violence, violence is important to us just see our movies,videogames and etc... Accepting that would be accepting that they are less effective in comminting acts of violence,thefore more helpless and unsafe like if for example, an asshole is borthering a men, the men can just punch the bastard in to oblivion a women probably can't, so maybe they want to be seen as strong and dengerous? Like who wants to be the victm? They want to be feared just like men are feared, being feared gives you a sense of power and etc.... So they think that its unfair that they can't be feared and anyways, are theses self defense classes even slightly useful? Like aren't they a waste of money and time?

And another thing, this get in the way of gender equality, we can't be equal while one sex is more violent and irrational than another,thefore they cope by saying that women are as violent and evil as males.
