Should I lie my way into a management position?

So I'm self-employed right now, which is like being unemployed but I'm still paying the bills. I don't want to work a cash register but with my long history of doing fuck-all except [niche online work] I'm not qualified for much else. But I could handle being assistant manager at some retail location with an eye towards working myself up. I think it would be enjoyable since I don't really need the job and I have an interest in things like store layouts, product promotion, and motivating people who are stuck working cash registers because they didn't lie. Should I bullshit my way into it for laughs and potential profits?

When you are doing buisness, lying is not good for a long term position even if it's for yourself. Shits and giggles is okay but if it is a serious management issue then you should just live with your qualifications.

Yeah but being honest and doing the right thing is for morons. Lying and cheating to get ahead is the only option. If you tell the truth, a liar and a cheater will shove you into a locker and you're going to stay there.

I've observed a lot of managers in various environments and a lot of small business owners. Just because I'm unmotivated doesn't mean I don't know what to do. The Wal-Marts of the world reward the dishonest. You're expected to keep hours under 40 for every employee and fire them once they've been there too long. Despite knowing this, you're still expected to motivate these doomed individuals. What sort of honest person would accept that job? I'd at least try to help out my doomed employees by encouraging them to get skills in anything other than Wal-Marting.

If my skills translated into a real job that I wanted to work at, I'd just do that. But assistant manager and working my way up the management chain fits my future plans. I'd rather shortcut it than spend time as a cashier and hope to get noticed. Before I was a layabout I was a hard-working employee who got fired for not having the right personality. Fuck the system.

Yeah I have enough confidence to get into the pool but not at the deep end. I figure I'll try to learn my boss's job right after I learn mine. If I work for an idiot he may even help me do this!

Maybe this is the product of reading too many con man books as a youth but I think it's possible.
