Ok, this is something I've still yet to understand. Gender Dysphoria is classified as a mental illness, but the simple notion of being Transgender is not classified as one. Okay fine, with the current zeitgest, it makes sense and I'm sure it'd be shitty to see your identity listed as a disorder.
But isn't the goal of being Transgender and transitioning to pass as a cis person or at least as close to a member of the particular sex you identify as? Why would any look you go for be "Trans and proud"? Isn't the whole goal to clock as a member of the opposite sex? It just doesn't track to me, wouldn't it be much easier to be like, "Yeah, I was born as a dude, but I like wearing dresses and makeup and it makes me feel better." People would probably give far less of a fuck.
It just doesn't make sense and the lack of gatekeeping around what classifies you as transgender just seems dangerous and absolutely mind numbingly retarded for people trying to understand what it's all about. I can kind of see it, there's a large percentage of the deaf community that would rather not be cured of their affliction and look at it as something that defines your life. I mean, it certainly does, any kind of chronic illness or physical disfigurement has to define your life in certain ways and change how you relate to yourself and the rest of the world, but you mean to tell me there's trans people who wouldn't take a pill that would fix their brain chemistry so they identified as their birth sex? Please.
If the goal is just to be trans, then the whole methodology being SRS, GRS, and all this other bullshit doesn't mean anything, it's just another hat people wear because they want attention, not because they're actually struggling with something. What's the point of it all then if you want to look trans and proud instead of like a fucking women? Maybe it's just copium and I'm just reading into it far too much, but it's something I've never been able to wrap my head around.
