Not that I think people would have bothered to read the book due to a hatred people have of it due to SJWs like McIntosh claiming to use it as inspiration but in Saul Alinski's "Rules for Radicals" one of the main points is "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon" and he is 100% right.

If you paint these people as proud patriots they have social legitimacy, an image, or if you paint them as extremist radicals you're still lending them legitimacy. Being called or promoted as either builds up an image of legitimacy and allows a populist (of any political persuasion) to claim they are being "persecuted" which further solidifies and justifies their position. However, being laughed at, mocked, not taken seriously, and having a person point out that you're actually a deeply flawed and retarded person when done in a way that others can join in and laugh completely destroys the image the person builds around themselves. SJWs like McIntosh fail with ridicule because they are too spiteful and mean spirited to do it properly. But if done correctly, ridicule will destroy a person or movement.

It is also one of the reasons a lot of big money and media move so hard against sites like this. As they know damn well a handful of retards having fun at their expense can cost them a lot, or everything. It isn't a leftist or a right wing thing, all those with positions of power fucking fear it. That is why they use shame tactics like claims of cyber-bullying, or troon suicides, but the main reason is they want places like this gone is because they know damn well that if a large enough group of people start laughing and having fun at their expense it will either cost them dearly or completely destroy them.

Two examples offhand I can give. First, early Gamergate, when everyone was having fun going after Gawker, it cost Gawker millions, and weakened it enough so that Thiel and Hogan could finish it off. The other being the Gamestop short squeeze where autists having fun at the expense of Wall Street cost them millions and caused major panic, to the point they forcefully infringed on financial freedoms and forced people to sell the stocks. Both things were acts originally based in having fun and the failure of both can be tracked right down to the second it stopped being fun.

The mocking laughter of a retard is something anyone putting up a false public front fears the most. It is the thing most lolcows fear the most. The thing that makes them angrier than anything else. It destroys the image they are trying to build and convince the world is legitimate.

PPP's mocking and videos like "We love our Mickee Dee's" video honestly hurts Gionet's feelings more than any time he may spend behind bars.

Mockery destroys the image. And as written by Bruce Lee....

I'm not well versed in Gamer Gate and I've never read Rules For Radicals but it's clear that seething masses of idiots is a potent weapon and both gamer gate and the only two political relevant political parties in the US fully understand that. It's also clear that one of the best counterattacks against weaponized seething is mockery and everyone who engages in the first form of manipulation both hates and fears the second, which is the main reason I post on this site. No one who is trying to be taken seriously wants to be a clown but at some point if you lean too hard into just being selectively angry at everything only if it fits your narrative for the sake of politics or whatever narrow world view, you will settle at the lowest altitude like water and correctly be perceived as such.

Gamer gate was nothing but a bunch of video game nerds learning that the gaming industry functions exactly the same as how the tv/movie/publishing industries work.

If anything, idiots online freaking out about game reviews made gawker tons of money in terms of easy traffic. The only reason gawker fell was their owner was a fucking moron who refused to listen to his own lawyers and tanked his own case in open court.
