And here we go again with the running from brief, slight discomfort. If he just played the damn game without any fanfare, people would forget he even did it in less than a month. He wouldn't have to put any effort into memory-holing it, it would happen for him. The fact that that isn't good enough, tells me we think his interests are bizarrely few because he lies about what they are. If he's so sensitive about wrestling that he won't make any visible associations with it, why would he not do the same thing for other hobbies?
This would, after all, explain why he puts his supposed gaming passion out there for everyone to eviscerate on a daily basis. I'll bet that if he didn't actually like wrestling, but loved video games, what he would be known for today, is the former. Almost all the problems he admits to turn out to be fake, and we find all kinds of legit issues he refuses to ever speak of. Phil is terrified of being real in front of anyone. I chalk it up to his nature as a shit-head who sees everyone else as being just like him. Would explain his paranoia being well beyond reasonable.

He thinks we won't think he's mature if he doesn't tell us he eats vegetables like a big boy. Probably why anytime he mentions candy he goes on a 90 seconds long spiel about how disgustingly sweet and unhealthy it is and how he would... have a heart attack if he ate it?
You know how he tries too hard to make it look like Kat is actually a wife to him, and fucks it up worse than if he said nothing at all? Same thing. Phil doesn't eat vegetables, he eats junk food, and the only thing his shitty brain can think to do is claim the opposite, constantly.
While his laziness might be satisfied, his ego isn't.
His reaction to no one showing up after he tweeted about the Oscars proves that just by itself. Literally said there was no point to talking about it further because his viewership didn't go through the roof.
Which was stupidly short-sighted, too, because it showed everyone WHY he doesn't deserve even as many viewers as he has: he's blatantly fake. I don't get it, either, because he'll stick with a lie on plenty of other things, like going bald. Never understand why he can't apply that same level of denial to when he gives a hot take on Twitter hoping to go viral. Wouldn't turn his career around if he did, but at least it wouldn't be so obvious that he meant none of what he typed.
