I’ve been listening to some of the older clips and I believe he has felt trapped for a while. He really doesn’t have too many options for employment at this state. Any slight against his public image might as well be murder to him. He will take any chance to reinforcement his Ralphamale persona anytime he can.

The reason nobody gave it more attention is because it's been obvious for years that Ethan does that more or less all the time, and the stuff he says about Jim is pretty tame if you consider his reord. Corey and Null were both cool guys until he decided he didn't like them anymore and they became pedophiles. It's a well-established pattern of behavior for Ralph, that's why people are speculating when and why is he going to have a falling out with Dax and what kind of stuff is he going to say about him.
