Hell, I didn't like Trump and like so many of the other braindead morons, my reasons for disliking him were superficial. I'm not stupid though. Under the Trump administration, I made more money than ever and my money had more buying power. I gladly voted for the man I didn't like primarily because I knew he made my life more comfortable. I can overlook character flaws when a person gets the job done.

In that regard, Trump losing in 2020 was a blessing in disguise since now Biden and the Democrats have to take fucking ownership of Covid and it's disastrous fallout on the economy. Had Trump won, the Democrats could wash their hands, blame EVERYTHING on Trump and then win in 2024 and beyond off of the deep sixing of the economy under Trump.

This is my hope. Things really suck right now and certainly more so than they would since the Dems are in power, but it's the Dems that are taking all the hits and their current unchecked rule is certainly on borrowed time, possibly all of it eventually. Meaning since Jan 2021 we've been putting in 2-4 years of misery up front so that the Dems can fuck up so bad they'll be put on a shelf for a long ass time while all their stupid mistakes and bullshit policies are reversed and the country returns to more prosperous times.

Beyond that, there's a huge difference in the characterization of Canaanite supreme god and the biblical god. The supporting evidence that all these Els were really just the early Jews or Judahites not being able to keep their gods straight, or that they needed to retroactively paper over their polytheism/idolatry (while ... also repeatedly going back to "worshipping" the false gods and ... writing about it), is really thin imo. No one can really trace evidence for how they would develop an affinity for one Canaanite god (and completely change his character) and reject the rest as false (it would clearly not be because of a desire to sever themselves completely from the surrounding culture), unless they had a pretty unique idea of God to begin with and occasionally drifted into cultural idol worship.

Yup. This morning made the weekly trek to the local donut shop. Got one custard donut for my wife, one glazed and one glazed twist donut. Last week cost for the donuts - $4.45. Today - $5.75.

Yesterday walked to Walmart. Last month a pack of 12 store-brand cupcakes was $3. Yesterday, $3.50.

New leases coming out any day at our apartment complex. Can expect a larger-than-usual rent increase.
