Looks like it's Russias turn to start making impotent threats of unspecified consequences.
They have been doing that for a while now. Just Finland by itself has more than enough to successfully fend off an invasion, let alone against a strained enemy with low morale, fighting on even worse conditions on two fronts now. Would suck, but it would be even worse than Ukraine for Russia!
Now, directly threatening the U.S.? Direct U.S. involvement means direct NATO involvement. It exponentially fucks them over. Would be suicidal to say the least!
The morale effect of the sinking is enough to be a game changer by itself. Let alone all the circumstantial changes you just mentioned! It's going to devastate their war efforts. The Moskva was 50% of the Black Sea Fleets air defences. The Russian Media may claim that it was crew incompetance that sank her. But the remaining 10 still operational ships of the Black Sea fleet bugged out to the Southern rim of the Black Sea at remarkable speed. This tells us that they at a minimum feel Ukrainian Anti-ship missiles were involved. And that those missiles have enough range to effect Area Denial along the northern coast.
What this means is the Russian's have lost their seaward air defense screen. Leaving a much wider open and undefended area of attack for the Ukrainians as Russian forces are largely confined to hugging the coastline.
