You can't have it both way:
1.We sunk our ship ourselves!
2. Its was Ukraine fault.

The US is increasing, not decreasing the noise re: threatening countries who aren't onboard with sanctions against Russia, the British admit the SAS is in Ukraine (ostensibly to train Uke soldiers) and NATO members are sending more materiel to Ukraine; thus, Russia, as well as Russians, believe that NATO is in a de facto war against it, so basically WW3 has begun. The Moskva is almost irrelevant at this point.

This is dangerous, not just for Russia/Ukraine but because Russia sees this as an existential threat to itself as a nation, to its peoples and its culture, When a country feels it has nothing to lose and has to make a last stand, something Russia is very familiar with, it is not going to end well. With nukes in the equation its guaranteed to be bad, maybe even fatal.

They're basically upset and grasping at straws as they flail around for who to blame. The started this with the expectation they'd be vastly superior to Ukraine and that "the West" would do nothing. Instead they've been struggling against Ukraine who's mostly using refurbished or upgraded Soviet gear. While NATO did get involved with heavy economic sanctions, but only relatively modest military support, only sending some shoulder fire missiles and more former Soviet gear. That Ukraine's mostly going toe to toe with them with such little support is a huge blow to their ego they're having difficulty accepting. Especially when it's partially because of their own corruption created shortcomings. Hence contradicting excuses.

Don't be disingenuous, you are well aware the US (and to a lesser degree other NATO nations, but without the US NATO is nothing) have made no secret of their desire to topple Putin and break up Russia, erase the Russian language and identity because "democracy". While some of it is hyperbole from neocons, Biden himself has stated Putin must go and other members of the US government have made equally irresponsible statements (eg Lindsey Graham).

You don't give someone an out, they can do nothing else but come at you. Russia has been here before several times in its lengthy history; the US is about 240 years old by comparison. You tell me who has more gravitas.
