War "World War III Has Begun After Sinking Of Moskva": Russian State TV - War were declared

On another state-run television channel, a Russian anchor argued that Ukraine was doing the West's bidding.

Russian state television has declared that World War III has already started after the sinking of its naval vessel Moskva in the Ukraine war. Though Russia said this was damaged after a fire, Ukraine claimed the credit of destroying the flagship vessel of Moscow's Black Sea Fleet through its Neptune missile.

But the sinking of the ship led to meltdown on the Kremlin's main propaganda mouthpiece Russia 1. Presenter Olga Skabeyeva made the chilling statement, informing the viewers that "what it's escalated into can safely be called World War III" and insisted "that's entirely for sure."

“Now we're definitely fighting against Nato infrastructure, if not Nato itself. We need to recognise that,” Skabeyeva further said, according to Metro.

A guest on the show compared the sinking of Moskva to an attack on Russian soil, despite Kremlin insisting that it went down because of a fire.

The man was reminded that instead of calling it a war, the government-approved phrase to be used for Russia's invasion of Ukraine is “special military operation”.

The clip of the show is going wildly viral on social media.

“They are poking the bear (pardon the pun) but in this case the NATO bear,” a Twitter user commented.

“They've lost 500 tanks, another 2,000 other vehicles, 82 aircraft, 18,000+ soldiers and a battlecruiser. NATO hasn't even arrived yet. It is fair to say that this war against NATO is not going well for Russia,” another user tweeted.

On another state-run television channel, an anchor argued that Ukraine was doing the West's bidding by carrying out "yet more provocations, bloody, horrible, completely unthinkable.”

Olesya Loseva, the host of Vremya Pokazhet on Channel One, said the West was now supplying "zillions of weapons” to Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Russian news agencies reported late on Thursday that warship Moskva sank in rough weather while being towed back to port.

"The sinking of the Moskva was an attack on Russia itself!"
"But the Moskva sunk due to a fire!"
"Yes, it did not sink due to enemy action, but it definitely should have!"

Translation - Please stop talking about the sorry state of our Navy whose cruisers can't shrug off damage that USN destroyers could due to not giving a fuck about the sailors and being unable to afford giving them actual damage control doctrine and training.

USS Cole had her side blown in by a terrorist barge going off point-blank and lived to fight another day.

Moskva apparently can't handle a sub-sonic anti ship missile that every first-rate Navy has at least a plan for encountering, if not CIWS weapons to deal with them. Nor, apparently, the ability to prevent the probably-survivable damage from one hitting cascading unchecked into a ship-withering fire.

The modern Russian fleet is neglected to the point their ships regularly burst into flame at anchor, and what they have that works is decades out of date. Such institutional incompetence is what turns a mission-kill (ship's damaged, scrub operation and return to port for repairs) into an actual kill.

Also, lol at NATO infrastructure - the Neptune missile is a Ukrainian-made ordinance. Sure, it looks similar to a Harpoon or Exocet, same way pianos all have 88 keys, it's form-following-function. But they developed and built it themselves as I understand it..... it's not a NATO handout like Javelins and scratched-up M16s.

Moscow uses the term "World War 3" because, in their heads they are still a Superpower as if to imply that they can still come close to NATO in terms of military power. The facade has fallen long before this war if you were paying attention. Barring nukes, they have little to back their grandiose rhetoric.
Seems like they could be steamrolled by just the entire European military teaming up even without America stepping in at this point

How do you decide if its a world war anyway? There's never been a war where all the countries in the world are involved.
are all the important countries involved in fighting it?
if yes, it's a world war, if not, it doesn't matter.
if congo, somalia, angola, cambodia, guatemala, new zealand and kosovo were fighting a war, nobody would give a shit.

It's sad yet hilarious that Russia thinks they can take on Europe when they can't even raise their flag in Kiev.

While impressive on paper, it all boils down to logistics. Running out of fuel halfway to the Dneiper River doesn't exactly constitute a military victory.

And they're still riding the whole "Victory in World War II" wave like a former high school jock who can't let go of his past victories years after he graduated, because he can't succeed in the real world.

Before this war they were talking on live TV how they can take on NATO members states AND Sweden at the same time

they also used to do shit like this every now end then, boasting they'd be in Berlin in days

The never-ending carousel of different casus bellis by the government, and the increasingly desperate attempts by Russian state TV to spin Russia failing to successfully invade a country with 1/3rd their GDP per capita and population, has been extremely entertaining,

Almost like this one other superpower that comes to mind, one that spent decades mired in a third world sandbox with nothing to show for it...
