Vance has had some super-retarded foreign policy takes, but having read Hillbilly Elegy and listening to some of his interviews since, the Senate desperately needs that kind of perspective and he'd probably be good as an interior-focused Senator.
He's basically a poster child for how working class whites flipped Red over the last 30 years and if Democrats ever wanted to win those regions again, they'd benefit from a day's worth of talks with people like him. Not that they'd listen, but the opportunity is there.
That day is a long way from passing. Speaking with the people who used to be strong Democrats in the Rust Belt and the Midwest would take effort and introspection as to why these people who used to vote Dem have abandoned the party en mass. It's easier to be intellectually lazy and just cast them off as nothing but a bunch of irredeemably racist mayoghouls

I can't believe the number of sheer idiots I see, even today, driving in their car ALONE and wearing a mask. Idiocracy at its finest.

Mind boggling yes, but brainwashed without a doubt. What the fuck is wrong with these people?

I see some people in the mall still wearing masks, even though even the most pozzed studies say there isn't any hard proof cloth masks stop transmission. They are NPC's as far as I"m concerned. Pretty useful marker actually.

Funny you say that. I still see Twattards unironically share articles that claim masks help stop the spread. Lul, I say.
This feels like it goes beyond NPC behavior, like there is some strong concerted goal to make masks “normal” despite the majority of people wearing them incorrectly (and not being corrected). That alone makes me think short-term health improvement is not the main goal. Only thoughts I have:

1) get Western citizens used to masks, much like how East Asians have been wearing them seasonally for decades (steps to embrace health precautions needed in our impending high-density bug-hive lives). This is the most optimistic and benevolent interpretation.

2) “dry run” on authoritarian executive control and identifying compliant citizens. Basically, NPCs we’re seeing are bootlickers for lack of a better word.

3) (funny skitzo theory): Islamic takeover of Western culture by forcing people, but especially women, to cover their faces. It’s working surprisingly well as women are culturally more risk averse, non-confrontational, and even self-conscious. Anecdotal, but hearing many women say they liked masks due to not having to use as much makeup in public and people don’t have to see their faces (privacy fears and I guess self-consciousness). This may be correlation instead of causation though.

This is me just talking out my ass. But I do wonder if the masking thing is about dehumanization. Breaking apart social cohesion. Fauci admitted in a private email that was leaked that masks do fuck all, early on in COVID. Maybe it's a control thing.

Meanwhile, in Florida, the efforts to unseat DeSantis continues. Agricultural Comissioner Nikki Fried (who stole her election through Broward County in 2018 and only notable achievement is putting her name on every gas station) is leading the charge.

The absolute state of Florida Democrats.
Her face looks like the Cleveland Indians' mascot but she's got some mammoth hogs on her.

You can't really hold someone accountable when you blow up every minor thing into a fascist takeover. These fuckheads flipped their shit when Trump dumped a box of fish food into a koi pond. do you really want to take someone like that seriously?

TWO SCOOPS

A few, I suspect. There's "Luxy" which states that 41% of its members are verified millionaires, though apparently you can be on there with just an annual income of > €200,000. They have special categories for example, "Interacial dating". For when you really want to fetishize another race.

And there's also "Raya" which doesn't appear to charge much but does vet its members so that you can be sure they're such luminaries as Channing Tatum (no dis, though - Jump Street was a great movie).

I'm sure there are others. I mean, can't really blame them. Anybody remember when poor James Franco, messaged a (female) fan who had approached him after some event, suggesting a fairly innocent sounding date? First thing she does after getting him to send a selfie as proof was go online and and try to fame grift off it.

On the other hand, there's something alarming about the elites having their own gated social networking. You think our echo chambers are bad?

I like how for interracial they have a Will Smith lookalike knowing full well that any woman would drop what they were doing for a night with him.

Women and the worst decisions. Prob have to go to a Whole Foods date with him, complaining the whole time about the GOP and telling stories about Jada- how he gets chucked nonstop or something. Then like, you get him home, ride a micro-penis for three seconds, he gets up, starts crying then calls his son and talks about Plato’s cave for like fifty hours while farting up your sofa.

I have WFH coworkers who call in from their downtown highrise condos wearing masks. For a video call. I can only assume they wear them all day at home. Its genuinely impressive the lengths they are going to to either be ignorant, or virtue signal.

Is there even a country that made mask wearing mandatory for video calls and livestreaming? And the police would unload a full AR round on you, when you're livestreaming and your nose goes into view for a millisecond?

So Biden is finally resuming the sale of oil drilling leases on federal land.

I expect a lot of people to cheer on this decision while forgetting he axed them (as one of his first acts as President) under the guise of environmentalism in the first place.

Edit: Mainstream article. Archive.

He can also re-ax them at any point, and has already demonstrated the willingness (or poor wisdom) to do so arbitrarily. Any oil extraction process is going to take years to get up and running, and if the administration flips (again) in the middle of rollout all the money invested is wasted because the equipment, planning, etc is all site specific. How many companies are going to roll the dice betting on Dementia Joe's consistency when the stakes are a few billion dollars and the future of their company?

It reminds me of some quip, that many countries prefer negotiations with dictators, as they know agreements will last more than 4 years.

Now that I don't have the mandates over my head forcing me to play ball, I'm growing to enjoy the guffaws I get whenever I pass someone driving with their mask on.
There's like one guy in my office who is extremely butthurt my boss limited WFH to 2 days/week and comes in wearing gloves, full sleeves, safety glasses and a N95 mask on the 3 days he's in. Fortunately he just images laptops and we don't have to work very closely with him, but lmfao.

>he images laptops
FFS, IT people get a bad enough rep as it is, this autist should cut it the fuck out with that kind of behavior.

I'm sorely tempted to tell him COVID can lodge in the soft tissues of his inner ear to see if he'll come into work either with a HAZMAT hood or wearing earmuffs.

Shows us two things, now:
1) The endorsement isn't taking your ass far if you don't campaign (Brooks - 0, Budd - 1).

2) Your ass isn't getting endorsed just by sucking orange cock all throughout your campaign.

The dream team's coming into view:

Psaki: Abbott's border inspection rule disrupts supply chains and raises prices

White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Wednesday criticized Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's new rule to inspect northbound vehicles for "causing significant disruptions."

Driving the news: "Gov. Abbott’s unnecessary and redundant inspections of trucks ... are causing significant disruptions to the food and automobile supply chains, delaying manufacturing, impacting jobs and raising prices for families in Texas and across the country," Psaki said in a statement Wednesday.

  • "The continuous flow of legitimate trade and travel and CBP’s ability to do its job should not be obstructed. Gov. Abbott’s actions are impacting people’s jobs, and the livelihoods of hard-working American families," she said.
The big picture: Abbott last week ordered state troopers to conduct additional inspections of commercial trucks in response to the Biden administration's announcement that it would lift Title 42, a pandemic-era public health policy to rapidly expel migrants at the border, in late May.

  • Abbott said that drug cartels use commercial vehicles to smuggle humans and drugs into the United States, the Texas Tribune reports.
  • Commercial truckers, businesses and local trade associations are protesting Abbott's new rule, Axios' Astrid Galván reports.
  • Dante L. Galeazzi, CEO and president of the Texas International Produce Association, wrote in a letter to Abbott that the policy "has wreaked havoc up and down our supply chain and is likely to leave state store shelves with limited fresh produce supplies."

They really do think we're this stupid, huh? This is just getting sad now.
WHAT THE FUCK

CA totally fucks the supply chain by mandating a widget in every truck

but TX can't search trucks with actual people inside?

I'm thinking that he'll instate more green countermeasures to offset the amount of criticism he'll undoubtedly get from activists for reneging on the drilling ban to make up for his recent concession on allowing more drilling for oil/gas on US federal lands.

He already had unveiled new rules on fuel economy (the new standards will increase fuel efficiency requirements by 8% annually for model years 2024 and 2025 and 10% annually for model year 2026). This translates to a fleet-wide average of 40 mpg as opposed to the formerly approved 32 mpg, which are most likely going to be fulfilled by cutting back on the car's weight rather than through technological advances. Of note is that Biden still got flak from environmental groups for not going far enough with said fuel economy standards.

It's going to be quite some time before the gas obtained from said drilling hits the market. Gas prices have gone down by approximately 50 cents since the spike in prices allegedly attributed to the Russo-Ukraine crisis, but I speculate it's more so because of the recent release in reserves and that prices will either hold steady around the current price or increase again as the weather starts to get nicer and demand for gas climbs as people start to travel more.
