the dogshit broken EU4 DLC they released
Which? The Polynesia one from their Madrid office? Some older one?
Like? It's as though everyone has already forgotten the clusterfuck which is Paradox Tinto and EU4's Leviathan DLC :story:
I thought PDX were lazy assholes... and then they went and added the Spanish work ethic to the mix. My God did that thing have so many blatant problems nobody bothered to fix despite starting people in the face.

Played the Vicky 3 leak. Bloody hell what idiot thought that Tropico level economic micro was a good idea when you're playing massive countries rather than a tiny island? It's core gameplay loop is just awful.
I'm hurt but I knew it would happen.

I thought it was so fucking stupid that they took the unique feature of Vicky everybody praised (the free market that runs itself) and make you do everything while also taking away any ability to give even the most general orders to your armies. And the fanbase just sucked Paradox's dick about it.

Honestly I may go full tard rage meltdown, because I was waiting real long for an updated Vicky that just wouldn't have the shitty diplomacy system and interface and all that from the old one. Like, a modernized Vicky like EU4, CK2, and HOI4 being much better. You should not have to tell your pig farms and coal mines what kind of equipment they use. You SHOULD be able to give an army an order like "advance on Savanna" or "swing through Belgium." So fucking stupid. So obviously an awful idea. Not htat anybody has said anything about the army yet, but I know people are going to hate it because there's no way you couldn't.

To be fair, the market system in Vic II never worked because the computer was a moron. It always was better to basically run it yourself to get it working well. Its just that, if you had a large enough nation, it basically wasn't an issue.

Yeah, the market system was trash and had bad micro foundations, but they should have tried fixing that instead of throwing it out.
They could have compromised on both economy and military. The game already has to have an AI anyways for economies, so allow it to run on autopilot. Then, have the military like battleplanner in HOI4, but you can't directly move units. I love the idea of generals doing stupid shit on their own, that's something that really should have been a feature of Imperator Rome. But you should at a minimum be able to give commands like "try to attack this industrial center" or "if you're losing, fall back to this mountain range." I don't even know if the current army system has distinct unit types (like dragoons and hussars and such). And it also makes sense to

And the diplomatic plays system, as is, completely fucks up any real-life wars where somebody intervenes. PDM had a wonderful Great War system that represented all the key points of WWI (empires being dismantled, empires falling to Communists if they get beaten on badly enough, losers having massive Fascist upswings, cascading alliances, the war can break out from dangerously low diplomatic relations without needing anybody to declare as such) in a generic setting where you would likely get a WW1 (if you met the conditions) and it would play out similarly but wasn't "the WW1." But hte mongoloid fanbase doesn't get that, they just shout down anything as being railroading.

And aggregating population to the state level is great if you're too lazy to get data and shitty otherwise.

Having given the beta a try... the worst part of the market system is, unsurprisingly, the UI. Its a bitch to find what you desperately need the most of, since what's most expensive isn't what your pops need. And so you have to check province by province to see how bad things are, what good is too pricey, etc. In my several games as the USA the biggest cause of standard of living issues was... wood. Yes, the USA had a dire wood shortage in the 1830's that forced us to import from the British Empire, and I somehow never knew about it.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, but the actual market system of buying and selling is pretty shit to manage, too. Then the military stuff is a cluttered mess, etc., etc. Really, the UI is just so absolutely dogshit and uninformative it could have only been made for mobile. I can't just hover my mouse cursor over a province on the main screen and see if there's any issues, nooo...

At least we can be :optimistic: for the modding scene of the game to come and fix PDX's fuck ups

Sounds like it's not even worth it to try it out for free.
What a shame.

One saving grace for their games is the mods yeah. With enough time and proper mods the game -should- be good, a handful of the DLC might be alright as well. But please don't buy that shit and pirate it, and if anything get the base game and creamapi the rest.

Oh my fucking God. This reminds me of the dogshit broken EU4 DLC they released and got a massive backlash for it. They couldn't handle the "hate" and criticism back then for their half assed game designs and general laziness. They started to cry all over social media about the "haydurs" and "toxic fanbase". I assume the only fanbase they'd want to listen, would be from reddit; their perfect circlejerk haven. They're pulling another victim card AGAIN, just like with the EU4 DLC scandal. Fuck sake's, maybe just make decent games again, and this shit wouldn't happen. I cannot wait until they're going to get legitimate competition, so they'd tear down this monopoly. Cry me a river.

Picture of the coddled devs reaction to valid criticism.
What's especially alarming about the dev team's reaction to the Leviathan controversy is that it was developed by a new team in order to learn EU4 mechanics in anticipation of starting development on EU5, which means EU5 is guaranteed to be shit because these crybabies are the ones slotted to make it.

The best way to get the games and DLCs without piracy is to wait for them to appear on Humble Bundle, that way you can get most of the shit you want while also giving cash to charity and 0 cents to PDX

I also sort of like the idea of your generals being able to do oddball things depending on their personality, but the problem is that Paradox AI is braindead, and since we're already somehow playing as an omnipotent force that can change major things about a state with button clicks, being able to tell your armies exactly where to move and attack isn't that weird.

I've decided to try out the game, I'm having fun learning the basics but am experiencing this bug where whenever you get a popup about a war you can't get rid of it, thankfully I can just move it into a corner where it barely takes up any space until it eventually expires on it's own. The UI size is not a problem, since you can adjust it in the settings to your liking. Although the build is nowhere near done I'm still enjoying what's present.

Edit: I can get rid of all tabs by entering the menu

hows the ui. Any progressive stuff in it?
Progressive? Not as far as I can tell. Just fugly, over-sized and over-ornate, and does a terrible job at actually telling you anything. Gone is anything neat, clean, and informative in favor of "Oooh, shiny". Or you know, smartphone UI.

Checked out the leak. Vicky 3 so far feels like a game I will play for one or two campaigns and then never touch it again. Just like Imperator and HoI4 for me.

Is it really that hard to just make vicky 2 with more content and better graphics/engine?
Victoria 3 is like a monkey paw wish come true.

With Imperator release that time has come and go for paradox games. You can't fix what's broken in its core.

Paradox has issued a DMCA to a team on Github who is working on a Victoria 3 Community Patch.
