Is there like a sub-genre of mentally stunted literal man children with unironic egos and delusions of grandeur which most aren't known enough to lolcows?

DSP, LTG, Mr Enter (Aspergers is his "mai depression"), QunatiumTV, Acerthorn, jim sterling..or sally sterling IDK...

It's like Susan was like "you seem to like retards who have no self-awareness of how retarded they are, boy do we have some suggestions for you".
You can add Game Grumps (specifically Arin) and Dream to that list. From what I know, Arin is the only other person who has had TIHYDP's made out of his shitty gameplay videos. He once got lost in a room with only one way out.

Sterling is a wierd case and has said multiple times that the only reason their content is as angry and self righteous as it looks is because the algorithm actually hates content when someone is remotely positive.

Phil, believes this as well. It's hilarious though when you look at other reviewers who are pretty positive most the time and do well when they make videos (NakeyJakey & Ranton).

Which is, as an aside, is more evidence that Phil didn't play video games back in the 90s. I was never a big Kirby fan, and I still remember one of them kicking my 9 year-old ass. Phil gets traumatized by all kinds of things and refuses to go anywhere near them ever again, if he had ANY memories of the classics, he wouldn't touch any installments of those franchises now. Not to mention, when it comes the IPs he does appear to really know, they're post-2000. That doesn't happen with folks our age, there's hardly anyone in their late 30's who didn't develop a deep affinity for Zelda, Metal Gear Solid, Mario, Sonic, Metroid, etc. that lasts to this day. Phil latched onto NOTHING in the 90's, even his love of Super Turbo only came about after the MvC crowd proved too much for him.
He is not gamer at all, at least as far as my lore on his 90s days go. The only games he played in the 90s were fighting games, which is why he thinks of himself as hot shit. Even kids born in the 90s knew games on the n64 or ps1. He likes to claim he is a retro gamer because he thinks it gives him credentials.

In comparison, my older brother who is a few years younger than Phil never really was into vidya umyet remembers playing sports games on the Genesis and shit. If you asked Phil what games he played growing up he would either fumble and claim he forgot them or pluck popular ones out of the ether.

I ask you dear Kiwis, do you forget what the first vidya you played was? For me it was some Gameboy Color games like Warlocked and some shitty Batman and Star Wars games.
He basically gave a review for the game and said that was it. The fact that the boss was optional ties it up. It's just like Middle Earth: Shadow of War. I saw the credits, that means the game is over and everything else is optional and he doesn't have to finish.
That goes for every open world game he plays interestingly enough. If he hates it he will rush through it and leave massive amounts of content untouched, if he thinks he can milk it he will drag the game on until it loses interest because everyone gets bored with it.
He claims he did try to sell his conndo at a loss but was denied it by his bank. He never gave the bank reason to believe that a short sale was necessary. The thing he refused to do was consider renting it out.
He did rent it out to his aunt supposedly.

What I expect happened was his parents asked him if his aunt could live there a while and they never put up any formal agreement on rent and his aunt just sent him money out of the kindness of her art.

This became another tugboat he threw his reliance on and when his aunt moved out because it got harder for her to live that money was gone and he just never went through with the effort to out it up for rent.

Big ups to Aqua Teal for documenting his entire rage. He got mad right after the first death when he lost his power ups and wants it to play like Kirby's Epic Yarn, which was a side stroller if I remember right.

"Side stroller" is right, seeing as Phil is a giant baby.

I love Video Games and Kirby and Dark Souls and Retro Games

You never forget this moment in your life. Mine was Super Mario World on SNES my moms friends daughters had when I was fucking 3-4 when we came over one weekend. First video game I ever saw and played. Hell I still remember my dad using floppy disc to play the frist Mortal Kombat on PC back in 93.

Fuck your made up wanna be gamer memories Phil. You aint got any cause you wasn't really a gamer till your late teenage years. Fuck off wanna mission 1 bitch.

It depends on the expectations of the audience. In the case of The Jimquisition, the numbers prove that Jim liking a thing gets viewed like 1/4 as much as Jim hating a thing (and Jim has backed this up multiple times with proof of metrics). Phil believes that detractor content gets traction for the same reason but the reality is that detractor content is well edited and gains traction because peoplr want to watch him without supporting him.

My first game could have been a number of things: Combat on the Atari 2600, some edutainment bullshit on Windows 95, TMNT arcade cabinet, or Batman & Robin for SNES.

Jesus I think that was Giana sisters. Or Earth the mother of all games. And from there it went to Alex the Kidd on my first own purchased Master System (those Jump&Run games were hard)
and it went from there. The early video games were hard.

What the fuck is this. Phil said the statues are long gone, sold and given away... when did this happen and why is this the first time he ever admitted to it?
No way he threw those away. You can tell he didn't because selling them/giving them away would have been the smart, mature thing to do. I remember he had a statue of Black Cat and Heavy but he doesn't even play TF2 and he's not really into Marvel stuff these days.
I think the reason this fat pollack ragequits so many games is because he hasn't bought one with his own money in a decade plus. Yeah there's a level of sunk cost fallacy when playing games but when you're gifted a game you don't have the emotional attachment to see it through to the end.
Maybe that's how it works for him but I generally believe that people can enjoy a game and get invested regardless of the price. That's how it is for me, at least. It feels bad when you buy a game and it's genuinely bad but if it's a good game or even an ok-ish game, then you finish it because of the quality not because the price is now justified.

In Phil's case I feel like he doesn't really like games in general. The only things he likes at this point is Street Fighter which seems like he's on autopilot and WWE Champions. He appears to dislike video games and gaming culture. He also SORTA cares about Call Of Duty I guess. That's it. That is 3 games he actually loves. And WWE Champions is off the table because of some weird ego thing or maybe just because he can't figure out how to stream it/capture mobile games. Everything else he has ever played for "variety" has either been played because of: spite, being payed by others to play it or because of some weird sense of completionism.

Duck Hunt, which meant I got used to associating "video game" with "pointing a fake gun at a TV" before associating it with holding a proper controller. This was in 1989, when I was five years-old. Though it was the original Metroid that made me actually fall in love with games, it had so much more going for it than shooting at insanely fast ducks and was more up my alley aesthetically than Super Mario Bros 3. And then a few years later Donkey Kong Country dropped and there was no going back. lol

It is VERY much dependent on the expectations of the audience. Don't know his metrics, but the comments section gets spicy whenever Max isn't so into what he's playing, because the fun with him, is when he loves it. He fostered that community, just like Phil did with his own.
