I always rather liked those films from the 70s and 80s that pretended to be legitimate movies. The acting was crap and the plot was absolutely an excuse to stitch as many sex scenes as possible together, but they were fun. They had jokes and characters. I mean, all porn is fake, why not just go all the way and admit it?

The 70s were an interesting time in porn because there was also an attempt to 'legitimize' it. By using actual movie sets, actors, a plot, they tried the whole 9 yards to make porn as something even more than what it is at its base. They actually had some success with Roger Ebert himself giving a positive review to one of the movies, I forget which one though. I think it sort of fizzled out with a combination of resurgent conservatism when the 80s swung around and the fact that cheaply made porn made for a much quicker and easier buck.
It's also interesting that people mention 'blue is the warmest color' because according to the actresses from that movie the director was an abusive piece of shit that forced them to do things they weren't on board with, or some such accusations. I think they launched a lawsuit against him, not too sure.

Both of you have excellent points, though I think what White Devil means by "casual racism/sexism/homophobia of past decades" is stomping out the entitlement that comes from so-called "equality" being used and abused.
