That's the thing. They don't think any of the signs of economic implosion will ever affect them? How could it? After all, they're Marxists, the most intelligent form of economics known to man, which has only ever failed because of a vast right wing conspiracy of evil straight/white/male CIA agents.
The implosion won't hit the things they actually care about enough that they won't be able to ignore it until 2025, and at that point it'll be Trump's fault. This is by design and has happened in many cycles so far. Then in 2028 they'll promise a return to sane leftist economics that will fix the economic problems that Trump will have spent 4 years fixing by then.
I still maintain we're gonna see Antifa start pipebombing and firebombing people in the next few years, convinced that THIS TIME the US is weakened enough to embrace the Marxist Cultural Revolution their Gender Studies teachers promised them.

SNL coddled Barack and Michelle Obama's balls pretty much the whole time until the 2016 elections with Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton and bailed them out. The only skit I remember ever seeing that really zinged Barack Obama was that Schoolhouse Rock parody that mocked him for all his executive orders that was capped off with DACA in 2014. "You can't just keep doing this, you bastard! You're gonna pay for this in midterms, democrats are gonna get voted out!"

Regarding SNL and Presidents; they also coddled Reagan, as Reagan was friends with Ebersol (who ran the show from 1981-1985) and various NBC executives and there was a mandate in play that SNL couldn't make fun of him. One that carried over after Ebersol left when Lorne Michaels came back to run SNL.
It's one of the reasons why when SNL does navel gazing specials about making fun of Presidents, they only ever show the Phil Hartman "Mastermind" sketch (and only in super abbreviated format). It was one of the few times Lorne managed to get away with being critical of Reagan due to Iran Contra.
Also, SNL's take on Clinton was schizophrenic. It didn't become critical of Clinton until the Monica Lewinsky scandal hit and that was largely due to Darrel Hammond, who is conservative and anti-Clinton explicitly playing Clinton up as a villain. Also, Hammond was rejected by Lorne when Trump started running for President/became President, because Lorne didn't like the idea of Hammond portraying Trump "sympathetically" and was willing to let Alec Baldwin go full super villain evil.
And at least while Will Ferrell was doing Bush II, Ferrell tended to portray Bush in a positive light.... but also severely retarded for cheap laughs. It wasn't until Will left SNL that they started making Bush more Satanically evil; especially when Will Forte took over the role for a bit.
Bush I also had a favorable portrayal, due to the fact that Dana Carvey not knowing much about Bush and opting to base his portray off of a happy go lucky guy just happy to be there.
