It also makes them way more suggestible, you could have someone that used to proudly smoke 2 packs a day and tell them they stopped smoking years ago and they'll believe it, same with drinking apple juice when they said they wanted a beer, or on the flipside demanding a beer when they stopped drinking decades ago.

thats probably the worst part and can be attributed to the fact that because they can't hold themselves to one place and time they just accept whatever. like if you ever had a dream but could remember how you acted when you weren't in control. no matter what happens you accept it no matter how out of character or out of normal it is. You can tell with stuff like him spending as much time at home as possible that this isn't just something sprung on them, keeping someone with dementia somewhere where they are used to keeps them way more comfortable than say forcing them into a home or a hospital; people's minds naturally are stronger in more comfortable surroundings, and it'll avoid these strange outbursts.
