I do feel a little sad at Exulsanic endiNG3 up so obviously a lolcow, but I suspect it was inevitable.
I watched some of her commentary on Jazz Jennings, and then some other stuff , and initially rather liked the unashamedly smart presentation, found her occasionally rather funny, and some of her insights interesting (At one point she said that therapy didn’t swap her gender identity to the ‘correct’ one, it just made her less obsessed with ‘gender identity’ full stop. Something valid in that.)
Then in a commentary on the ‘I am Jazz‘ episode when they go to draw a naked model she started saying ‘As an artist blah blah sperg’
Then I saw her ‘art’. Not only is is terrible, but she was very visibly delighted and puffing up at every positive (and delusional) comment on how brilliant it was.
But perhaps this is the problem - would anyone who is grounded and balanced and sensible even want to develop a YouTube channel, or any kind of social media platform, and attract followers, even if they have valuable stuff to say?
Re false memories, the Satanic Panic, McMartin preschool etc., I don’t think either extreme (child abuse EVERYWHERE vs no child abuse anywhere, false/manipulated memory EVERYWHERE ) is likely to be the truth. Ross Cheit wrote a book called ‘The Witchhunt Narrative’ looking at the actual evidence in these cases, and concluding that there was often something abusive going on, which got blown up into something utterly ridiculous, which was rightly debunked, but now actual abuse is automatically debunked along with it.
