Just want to add the political cartoon that's cropped from is one of the most inscrutable pieces of humor since the Sumerian dog joke

Nah this is pretty funny and is recent enough to have context. Taft loved his Aunt Delia and not only would go to visit her regularly, driving over 100 miles, but would have her pies sent to the White House. This is essentially an old-timey fat joke.

Here's Henry Taft, his brother, "Will" (the papers loved to use that, quotation marks and all), and beloved Aunt Delia.

Digimon goes nuts with shot like this. Exhibit 1: Gundramon.
Yugioh also featured guns, they just got edited for Western audiences because American media is made for literal retards:

Also, turns out Pokemon had guns in it too, they just refused to show it in the West, which is ironic because it looks like a Wild West themed episode:

That was all addressed in the post I was replying to.

Look buddy. I'm a giant fuckin nerd alright? I know who Aunt Delia was. You don't have to tell me how good her pie is, okay? Did you see a sign out front that said Taft Reference Misser? That's because it ain't there. Because missing Taft references ain't my fucking business, that's why.

But you look at that cartoon, you look at Mr. Voter with his rictus grin on the bottom half of his face and the warning signs of a stroke on the top, and tell me what emotion I'm meant to infer. That doodle alone could fill a five paragraph essay of speculation and it's far from the only open question here.
