Oh this is pitiful, bet he made that slideshow on MS PowerPoint, and I bet it's riddled with spelling errors too. And of course these losers are clinging on to masks with dear life, any petty scrap they can hold on to in order to impose themselves on others, this kind of people have relished the two tier society COVID has brought about, they get to larp as the nobility that they see themselves as.

Look how fucking fat he is too.

I thought even the mask crazies had stopped wearing them. I haven't seen one one in over a month. I wonder how empty that room was. Surely if it was full, he'd have posted a picture of it. Also wow, he's fat.

My questions for the speaker would be as follows:
1) What qualifications do you have to talk about any business Elon Musk is involved in?
2) Why are you so fat?
3) Did you make this in powerpoint? How did your fat fingers work the keyboard?

P.S. I can't believe no one has mentioned how fat he is.

For trad publishers - and I say this as someone who works for one - pretty much the only one who has stood firm against the tide has been Baen Books... and my god have the wokies repeatedly try to make them pay for that.

Good on you for supporting the Dragon Awards!

By win I mean that, had the Puppies won outright and the wokies lost, would this cancer have spread to every other branch of pop culture? Would Tor and Orbit and thier ilk kept thier heads down or remained mostly sane?

And yeah, guys like Larry Corriea and Jim Butcher weathered the backlash fine... lot of midlisters like Brad Torgersen didn't. To say nothing of all the newbie spec fiction authors being kept from success because they're too white/male/straight for the gatekeepers.

Ten years ago, I my bosses never would have openly told me to reject an author because he was a white guy, or sent promising authors packing because they didn't want to make every other character gay.

I dunno if the Battle for the Hugos sped up a wokie takeover, or just made the leftie loons drop the mask, but I've watched the transformation first hand...

I wonder a lot if it might have been prevented ir mitigated. I wonder a lot more if it can be fixed at this point.

Indeed, the Rabid Puppies were tools.

That and the Sad Puppies were totally unprepared for SFWA dropping that media blitz smearjob they did. I think the level of personal attacks and venom shocked a lot of people.
and now these fags get rewarded but coming up against people like the pests who don't give a fuck what they or anyone who cares about them thinks. they keep uselessly trying to discount them like Autogynephilia Dawn Phelan on twitter but none of the pests care what these weirdos think and it has no effect on their lives at all.

I count 29 people, at least 4 of whose gender is questionable, and we may also have a record for oldest convention goer that's not Bill Shatner. Such a great turnout, notice they gave him one of the narrow ass rooms that has a max capacity of maybe 50 people. As a former convention staffer, I can 100% tell you this is where we shove the panels we know are going to have shit attendance, and that are only there to pad out the schedule. I'm somewhat surprised he managed a crowd this big, although I'd like to know if that pic on the right was at the beginning or end of the panel. You can lose half the attendance in the first 10 minutes if they think you suck.

Honestly, the longer you look at the people present for his talk, the more hilarious/pitiful they become

Lmao

I can smell that room from here. It's a mix of bland hotel conference room and unwashed genderspecial nerds. I'd be wearing a mask too. 🤮

They were enough to shock a lot of people into realizing the truth. It was insane watching the masks come off. They attacked actual readers on social media, went after smaller authors in public, and made it clear the awards were a mockery. Everyone I know has their eye on the Dragons now. SFWA may have won the battle, but the war isn't looking so good for them.

Speaking of how shit trad publishing is I read all of the Monster Hunter series in a little less than 2 weeks taking a 2 day break because I was driving on a road trip, but for Lindsay Ellis's drivel it took me that long to read 2 books and I hated every minute of it

From following this thread it seems like the SFWA is full of a lot of pedophiles and other weirdos like Fatrick. I'm sure they jumped on the woke train on purpose because it helps act as a shield for their own outright degeneracy. It's not all that different from all of the sex pests that hopped on the feminism train and proudly proclaimed themselves to be male feminists.

But it doesn't really matter. All they've done is take over an old organization that may have at one point meant something or have given out an award worth winning. They'll only drive it into the ground (as they've been doing) and the rest of the world will move on and ignore them. Membership in the organization or winning the award becomes meaningless.

I'm reminded of a bit from Starship Troopers (incidentally a Hugo winner back when the award meant something) where the protagonist's high school teacher gives an important lecture on the meaning of value:

"Nothing of value is free. Even the breath of life is purchased at birth only through gasping effort and pain." He had been still looking at me and added, "If you boys and girls had to sweat for your toys the way a newly born baby has to struggle to live you would be happier . . . and much richer. As it is, with some of you, I pity the poverty of your wealth. You! I've just awarded you the prize for the hundred-meter dash. Does it make you happy?"

"Uh, I suppose it would."

"No dodging, please. You have the prize—here, I'll write it out: 'Grand prize for the championship, one hundred-meter sprint.'" He had actually come back to my seat and pinned it on my chest. "There! Are you happy? You value it—or don't you?"

I was sore. First that dirty crack about rich kids—a typical sneer of those who haven't got it—and now this farce. I ripped it off and chucked it at him.

Mr. Dubois had looked surprised. "It doesn't make you happy?"

"You know darn well I placed fourth!"

"Exactly! The price for first place is worthless to you . . . because you haven't earned it. But you enjoy a modest satisfaction in placing forth; you earned it."

That's only a small portion from that part of the book, but it gets the point across and shows why them taking over an award or even a publisher is worthless. It won't make them happy either because it isn't really what they want, and even if they thought that they might have, they know that they haven't earned it. Everyone else knows it too.

Also for anyone who hasn't read Starship Troopers, I would highly recommend it. It's short enough that you can get through it in a weekend and more than good enough that you'll likely be compelled to keep reading once you pick it up. The film which shares its name (quite enjoyable in its own right) is only loosely based on the plot and surface-level similarities. I'd particularly recommend it for anyone who's read even a paragraph of the shit that Fatrick sprays onto the page and needs to be reminded of what good fiction looks like.

The audio of Pat's restraining order hearing is being streamed live:

Holy fuck, maybe don't sound obviously annoyed when the judge asks you basic "and how do you know x" questions at the beginning of your hearing. That kind of stuff sets the tone fat tits
his neck is mesmerizing
What neck? I just see a giant thumb popping up from between his shoulders that someone put a wig and mask on as a joke
