Hell, some ground vehicles use JET FUEL.
How the fuck can you have been in logistics and not know jet fuel is fucking diesel? Hell, not even diesel. JP-8 is kerosene-based. That said, you're right about the rest, especially the need for raw power, and the best way to get that is burning fuel, and lots of it.
Plus, the left frothing at the mouth over what's obviously a goofball party when they show pics of them sucking dick on their own timelines, and calling Pelosi a "teetotaller" (IT's TEAtotaller, you fucking inbred faggot journo) just shows that if it wasn't for hypocrisy they wouldn't be able to speak.
Hey, I totally believe Pelosi doesn't touch tea at all. What do you mean that's not what it means?
They're doing this so Yu-Gi-Oh will be the only card game on the ballot.
Well... do you want to challenge the God-Emperor to that game? Of course, self-induced bullet holes in the feet is how the Dems operate these days.

So, Biden has decided that military vehicles will be climate friendly in the future and has declared that he/the government will spend billions to do so.

Now, he didn't quite go into detail on how he will accomplish this (or where the funding is going to be coming from), but I think the last thing that is in the mind of soldiers when they're shooting people or running into gunfire is the environmental impact of their tanks or APCs. I think that this is going to be nipped in the bud quickly, since getting parts overseas is already a challenge, but it will be doubly so if they can't fix it quickly or get it moving again because there's an insufficient electricity source available.

It is in fact teetotaller.

I think I just had a stroke.

First of all, the one thing you need above ANYTHING is fucking horsepower?
I am willing to bet someone found out about the milsurp>fire dept>bubba pipeline of relatively new military vehicles that land some where between tier 0 and 2. They of course found this unacceptable. I know a (very large)ranch that started their own fire department and has two M1075s. They mostly get used for fire stuff. Mostly. The Fifi stuff is all mounted on flatracks.

Man... welp, there goes Cawthorn's political career, maybe.

Thinking about it again I think I exaggerated in my head how this would come off. He might be able to brush it off but I think that depends at least somewhat on how media decides to treat this story. Anyways, here's Madison's response:

This is an op so egregious it makes Gosar and MTG's hearings seem legitimate and serious. Even the feds made Cuellar look like he was in deep shit.

For fuck's sake Joe, electric motors can barely move a car from neutral to gear 1 and start falling apart at gear 2 how in the name of god are you going to make electric tanks, i guess with the same technology that he's gonna cure cancer with

What exactly are you saying?
There are several reasons EV's aren't going to be for the military (batteries are big and heavy, charging takes a while and you can't rely on the power grid, the control systems are shit and shut down for the smallest problem), but none of them fall into what you might be describing.
You talking about them eating transmissions (can be fixed with controls, or just using a fixed gear), or them being underpowered (they aren't) or something else entirely?
I will never understand how the Green cult managed to worm its way into leftist thinking.

Like, I can trace a straight line from the hippie thinking of the 60-70s to the environmentalism of the 80-90s, but the leap from THAT to straight up worshipping the magic EV and disregarding everything else that isn't carbon emissions is horrifying. Nobody actually gives a fuck to actual issues that could be solved, and on aggregate much more serious, like the continued poisoning of heavy metals and plastics of our oceans.
Try engineering for an auto company. Shit is disgusting. People who know better cheering for EV's and the banning of gas cars who KNOW about how inefficient EV's are and KNOW how bad the mineral mining is, and drive ancient cars for fun. Hell, I had one guy wondering when there would be inductive charging for electric cars in an area that uses natural gas for power generation. That's something like another 40% inefficiency (wild ass guess, but I know it's huge).
The last step in determining the MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent) from the EPA for electric cars is to divide by 0.15 to account for the social good of electric cars. That puts the slow Tesla Model S at the same carbon output at a fossil fuel plant as an 18 mpg gas car and the fast one is at 15 mpg.
I'm not surrounded by idiots, I'm surrounded by zealots who will pretend to believe anything because politics.
Also carbon emissions don't fucking matter. The some of other stuff does, but it's mostly taken care of in the west. They actually believe the carbon thing though, they've just listened to propaganda and don't think.

You know freight trains and enormous mining machinery are just about exclusively driven by electric motors, right?

They're not battery powered though, if that's what you're meaning.

Yeah i was under the impression electric cars where severely underpowered, i knew freight trains used electricity but i figured the difference was that those didn't work on batteries.
I guess the real problem is batteries then, rather than anything to do with the engine

Yeah, the eating transmissions I'm talking about, that's them having too much power at too low of speed for the things to handle. You can make a powerful motor. It's all storage of power and portability of power.

Can you imagine the generators at a military operation thingie (what would you call it if you're on the move? A camp? A base?) chugging all night to charge the batteries on the caravan? Would be pure 2022.

Mostly locomotives. Outside of rope shovels and the odd Unit Rig truck, mining stuff is all mechanical and/or hydraulic. Standard open pit mine is 1 250 ton excavator or shovel to 7-20 100 ton haul trucks. Expand as needed

R. G. Letourneau is not mad, he is just disappointed.

Vehicles with electric traction don't really have transmissions, that's sort of the point.
With a combustion engine, they will have a narrow range of speeds where they're efficient, so the transmission is used to keep the engine running within that range and allow for different speeds at the wheels. A transmission that can handle the power needed to move a locomotive would be large, heavy, and expensive. You can more easily vary the power to the electric motor without having to do anything mechanical so its much more efficient. Of course, they have a diesel engine running at its optimal RPM turning a generator to get the power instead of some green lunacy like lithium batteries, which is why all-electric military vehicles is a retarded fantasy.

Dunno what minesites you've been on but on Australia the haulpak dump trucks are just about exclusively electric traction.

I am glad i got called on my ignorance because now i get to shit on green cultist even harder on theirs
