Snakes Reads A Terrible Book: Manhunt, by Gretchen Felker-Martin - An utter waste of everyone’s time inspired by the Tranny Sideshows thread and its new favorite author
I'm actually curious to know what Gretch will have the women do with the prepubescent boys or ones going through puberty, are they thrown out, castrated, killed or worse yet are the troons caring for them?
I think there was a throwaway line (which is an understatement in an entire book that deserves to be thrown away, but I digress) about how they'd be castrated or force transed before they reach puberty. So basically Gretch's wet dream. Everything else in this "novel" is a fetish, after all, why not that too?
I have to say, amidst this dumpster fire, I have found one thing I do legitimately enjoy: how close to self-aware GFM is - his tranny characters are constantly denigrating and lamenting what it is to be trans, while the TERFs are mostly real people, just trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic society.

OK, I haven't read the book, but both our readers said "attagirl" was an actual term for a girl probably handing out sex rewards in the universe, but couldn't it just be a literal "Atta girl," like a congratulations? I just got the sense it was "yeah, people are horny for terfs who have just killed some troons, go upstairs if you want to be thanked for it," not that it was a specific term for an institutionalized sex slave. Although it would be actually clever to repurpose a common saying like that.

I think I noticed another plot hole though…what about the animals? If the virus uses testosterone to turn men into rape zombies, shouldn’t it affect basically all male vertebrate animals? There is so much vile stuff going on and 'horror' is not the reason for it. It's the writer. You have quite a few people complaining about all of that, because they are (rightfully) upset by the themes and language in the book. For example all the rape. Rape is a horrific topic. The problem is that in this book rape is being glorified. And a sensitivity reader would have pointed that out. But since Greg Chan has most likely never faced any kind of negative feedback leading up to the release of the book, now everyone, who dislikes the book, is a nazi TERF.

Also think about the Fantastical Creatures story again. Isn't that book about a semi-wizard guy, who can talk to all kinds of fantastical animals? That goes on to show you that a good writer, such as JK Rowling, can keep herself out of the story and just write something, that people will like. And that's what goes on to become a massive franchise.
When it comes to me, respect doesn't have to be earned. It has to be earned back. I respect everyone at the beginning. So I usually don't misgender transgender people. I do try to respect binary pronouns. But when you have a shit human like Greg Chan freely oversharing his disgusting fetishes, I lose all respect for that person. The more commentary on this abomination of a book the merrier. Chapter overlaps by different users are fine. You all have a different style in the way you rip this terrible book apart. And every user that's read through a chapter and left commentary so far is so much better than the garbage you're all reading for our enjoyment.

I'd also say the self-insert phenomenon is much more acceptable in romance because that's often the point of the genre: for the reader to be able to identify with the main character and imagine themselves in their shoes. Readers will most likely be slightly bookish women, and that's exactly what kind of women the writers are, so if they're drawing on their experiences of being like ... awkward or inexperienced, then that just makes their work more relatable to the audience. (#NotAllRomance, it's just that it's a vehicle that makes sense with self-insert characters in ways other genres can't ride on.)
I guess GFM is trying to speak to the troon audience, but unfortunately, the troons are even more cringe than teenage girls, and this is a horror novel where everyone has to do fucked-up things. So it's going to have limited utility as a self-insert novel. It's meant to repulse its audience, but in a way that affirms that repulsion is sexy. Uck.

This is Kiwifarms, most of us are desensitized to shit like that and no one wants to read over and over again that 'omg you know, raaaaape is howwwwible!' Just gotta accept early on that Micah is going to write all kinds of amoral shit, try to make the reading more bearable for everyone else by poking fun at the inconsistencies, poking fun at his horrible understanding of human behavior, or making some quips about the inevitable counter-productiveness of his abhorrent depiction of trannies. I was gonna say, feminists who are called "TERFs" - and, you know, the vast majority of actual activist feminists whose activism is more than just a line in their Twitter bio or a pithy TikTok video - are anti-prostitution and advocate strongly for laws that criminalize solicitation, pimping, etc. due to how exploitative and traumatic it is for women. There is absolutely no way some "TERF paradise" where eeeevil TERFs are in charge of everything wouldn't outlaw prostitution.
But they also probably wouldn't have to. lbr, the vast majority of women would never even consider visiting a prostitute and even among the ones who would think about it only the tiniest minority would even come close to doing it, and most of that itty bitty minority of an already tiny minority group would want a male prostitute, not a female one.
