Maybe the director was chosen by HBO suits to produce it for the money? I don't see how someone thinks this is a good idea.Which is a shame since I think the producer of Chernobyl is on TLOU: The Show and Chernobyl was good.

TLOU as a TV show isn't inherently a bad idea, but the warning signs are starting to mount. It's often a valid acting choice to avoid an earlier version of the role you're playing because you don't want to just imitate what you've seen, for example - but if that turns into making a point that you're going to treat the property you're adapting as less 'roadmap' and more 'inspiration', then there's going to be trouble. The Halo TV show is a good example, but there's others - the Asimov's Foundation series, for example, or the Lord of the Rings show.Maybe the director was chosen by HBO suits to produce it for the money? The biggest problem is of course Druckmann combined with what at best could be described as complete disinterest on part of the non-video game people with understanding why the original game was liked so much. That gives Druckmann free reign to 'edit' the original's plotline and add things he could simply say were removed due to time constraints or whatever, but in reality we all know he's going to shift the plot to include Abby and glorify her all the more.TLOU as a TV show isn't inherently a bad idea, but the warning signs are starting to mount. Druckmann's involved, which isn't a great sign, but also means that it's not going to hit every beat of the 'THIS WILL FUCKING SUCK' alerts like the LotR show has; like it or not, he had a big hand in TLOU Part 1 as well as 2, so there's not going to be any 'We think we're making something as good as Tolkien' hubris, and I don't think even Druckmann would admit (at least, in public) that he thought his work was as seminal as Lord of the Rings, let alone that the TV show based on it was also destined to be that important.
But while I don't think they're at full-blown LotR-level yet, they're close. It only really would take a couple of articles making a big deal about the diversity involved (which is always code for 'it's shit, but we've wokified the characters to annoy the original fans and if you don't like it you're a bigot') and referencing the original game as only being a guideline (which is code for 'we've rewritten the whole thing to take out the bits people liked, either through arrogance, subverting expectations, and/or lack of talent'). I suspect the red flags are only going to get worse, but it's not quite a clear nightmare yet. If some of the creatives from Chernobyl are on board, that's some potential to head off the more trainwreck-style aspects that have been suggested so far.
Or, better yet, he ends up making it into his failed game pitch for Mankind, as a giant spiteful "fuck you" to George Romero for passing on his idea way back when. The biggest problem is of course Druckmann combined with what at best could be described as complete disinterest on part of the non-video game people with understanding why the original game was liked so much. Don't forget this other Joker:He left out the only one who was A True Legend™ and GAM*R®

To be fair Batman was mostly syndicated on Nick at Nite which is where most Late Gen X and Millenials would have seen it. In 1966, while cable existed it was not as wide spread by the early 90's most households in America had cable.
That and there's also the horrid Rastafarian version that the short lived The Batman had.

I mean nobody liked this one. Not even Juggalos.
we live in a neighborhood
It’s also so encouraging when, before the show even comes out, people working on it constantly go “actually, it’s really good we’re not following the story of the thing we’re adapting!” It worked out great for the Halo show!Going back to TLOU2 talk:

Drunkmann is at it again with even more verbal diarrhea.
Fully expecting Nathan to die in the opening of the next sequel by having him fall into a bottomless cavern during a cave in. His daughter will spend the rest of the game trying to find an artifact so she can "live up" to him.
Nah, that sounds too much like what leaks seem to imply will be the plot of the next Indiana Jones film.Fully expecting Nathan to die in the opening of the next sequel by having him fall into a bottomless cavern during a cave in. Then again, that might shine Nathan in too positive a light.

Without a doubt. Just look at how the absolutely horrid Halo series is getting blasted from all sides for its 'reinterpretation' of basically everything to the point Master Chief is scarcely recognizable as the same guy beyond the visual design of the MJLONIR armor (which he doesn't even wear the helmet on half time time which is a BIG no-no).This feels like he is nervous and already trying to cover his ass.

Likewise, this whole affair could easily explain why literally nothing has come of supporting the 'highly successful' game that is TLOU2 or so they want you to believe. You know, like Multiplayer. And that's because Druckmann's getting the "in" to the entertainment industry he wanted all along. All focus has been on getting this HBO show off the ground instead of continuing to actually give players what they want...assuming they aren't lying about how truly successful TLOU2 really was.
And of course given we're still in the middle of a pandemic, I'm not entirely sure a show where the plot is about some kind of incurable infection causing the downfall of civilization and the death of the majority of mankind is going to have nearly as much traction as it would have had pre-pandemic.
I really don't understand, at all, why they'd recast those roles months into production.Well would you look at this: Even more evidence that "feminist ally" Neil Cuckmann and his cohorts had Amy Hennig and her work tossed out of the studio. Stunning and brave!

I also think it's funny that this whole "new Uncharted games" thing came out the day after Hennig's new game was announced. Almost like they're trying to stick it to her or something.
Scorched Earth. It's obvious they didn't want ANYTHING that was related to the work of the person who'd just gotten booted from the company.I really don't understand, at all, why they'd recast those roles months into production.
Interesting factoid: at one point, Ellie picks up a gay porno mag in the first game and seemed pretty interested in the contents before Joel tells her to throw it away. There was no indication whatsoever that she like girls. You know, looking back, does anyone think that Ellie was actually meant to be lesbian from the get go? I legit have a hard time deciding if it was the case or if this is some that the DLC added that the sequel decided to go insane with.
