Im not sure where else to post it but this looks the most appropriate.
I just finished the Nick Vs Jim stream (the part between Nick and Jim, I am very skeptical the remaining parts are worth watching).
At the end of the day, I can see somewhat where Nick comes from, If you fuck around in general, (especially in the "bloodsports" sphere) you will inevitably get burned as a result, regardless of it being fair or not. I think what I find to be the most un-redeeming thing of all of this is Nick's mentality.
Nick, as well as others, have had their shit taken down, rebuilt elsewhere, taken down again and rebuilt stronger later. I can admire the fact that they have seen a problem, been a victim of this problem, and felt the need to fix it in ways that I am sure are not easy, and are likely very costly. KF is similar in that the sites existence is built on the back on a person refusing to fold and to put everything on the line for what he deems important (regardless of how others perceive it). I can respect Nick in this, Its a trait I find to be very admirable in others and one I strive for myself. The problem comes from how Nick, using these flawed systems and knowing the rules are bullshit, will abuse them regardless. Perhaps this is inevitable, perhaps there is something to be said about how Nick/AF are backed into a corner somewhat as that sphere of content definitely doesn't lend itself to much in the way of recourse, so the only option left is to either A. suck it up, accept it and try to strive in a productive direction or B. declare a weird war and use the system that harmed you once against others.
But by using these systems, you perpetuate the existence. Its all well and good if you are not just more determined, but more lucky and more capable in some way than these systems, but not everyone is. Its like a weird Caste system, not too dissimilar to the scalp taking of the sphere, where the more powerful people can simple get away with more because they had access to something that few may have. few may even be able to grasp for a variety of reasons.
And perhaps its inevitable for it to be this way, but to look down on those below, to kick the ladder and sneer, makes you abhorrent to me. Its the same reason I think people like Ethan Klein or Idubbz are fucking awful. You have been gifted an opportunity to do better, and instead you simply persist the system itself and inflate your own ego.
The cost of this level of fame on a person I am sure isn't all that easy either, I'm sure it eventually would get grating to have shit tossed at you, especially from people you have that power over and you consider retards. But I would like to think a better person could deal with this and be more resilient.
Frankly, I make jokes, but I don't have any resentment for people on the higher up of the system typically by default. Prior to the past week or so, I figured Nick just made a bad play with Ralph and might not of understood the whole situation. Initially he was keeping out of it and I supported that (I do think defaulting to saying you are defending ralph by not addressing it is a bit disingenuous. But he presents himself in a way that is very combative and he 100% could of handled the whole thing better)
But now, while I am sure others will say "Well yeah, dumbass". I can say for certain that Nick is both in over his head and doubling down on the worst positions in such a way that he will continue to struggle to be taken seriously by most people, but maybe he wants it that way.
