That's the actual reason there's a political push to make it a state (all states get 2 senators fyi. It's the number of house reps that fluctuate with state population). Washington was intended to be a federal district to make it a neutral territory where no one state had control. Making it a state would defeat the entire purpose of not just having the capital be Philadelphia or NYC. Now, whether or not that's a real concern anymore is another debate, but I do think it's a good idea for the federal seat to not be within a state. There's the argument that the people living there should have representation. I think that if you want to live in Washington, you have to deal with the consequences of it being a federal district. It's not like you can even argue it's difficult to move, you literally are no more than 5 miles from two states. Most people have longer commutes than that.

The full time residents of D.C. are probably less than a quarter million. Most residents are only there seasonally (eg: staffers, politicians, contract workers). The politicians and senior staffers have multiple residences so they don't count, the lower staffers and contractors are only agents or secretaries there for a year. What remains is the service class, those who provide healthcare, entertainment, baby-sitting, and food for people without local roots. Having D.C. become a state is the stupidest, short-term Democrat ploy I've heard. Giving rights to a tiny city that has more commuters than residents and which will only be concerned about an effervescent tomorrow. When 50% of your population leaves because the orange man or old man comes in, you've got the murder capital of the US.

rifle footage seemed to have a modified trigger installed like an echo or forced reset or something. the shooter seemed unfamiliar with it and lacks basic rifle skills.

the photo appears at a glance to have two converted rifles (furthest left and right), but this is uncertain since a properly converted rifle would not need an echo trigger, and installing one would not function correctly either (if at all). if either of those rifles were used, it wasn't in the video seemingly due to the inconsistency of the firing cadence.

the "wraps" on the handguards are repurposed suppressor wraps meant to reduce heat mirage and offer some protection from bare flesh touching a very hot suppressor. the rifles do appear to be 16" rifles with relatively long rail systems installed. both of the rifles on the right have PSA handguards installed (machined by YHM usually) and the rifle on the right has a Daniel Defense MFR.

UTG is a Taiwanese brand started by a former Taiwanese police officer in the early 2000's and moved manufacturing to Taiwan in 2009 (UTG) and when partnered (or bought) by Leapers, the US (UTG Pro) in 2018. Leapers goes back into the early 90's and was started in Michigan partnering with inexpensive manufacturing in China. Leapers, UTG, and UTG Pro (and SWATForce and a couple others) are pretty much all very cost reduced products however they do still work as far as slings, rail systems, little tools and other things that are difficult to screw up. their optics are a little too cost reduced IMHO, but other than the price, there's not much to go wrong with machined extruded aluminum rails and molded silicon-rubber rail protectors or grips. especially if US prices are too high or US products aren't available in your market. if you have a little .22 or some beater rifle used and abused as a tool or whatever then you could do worse than some UTG/Leapers stuff that adds a cheap flashlight on a ranch rifle or a sling on your shotgun.

optics (and most other accessories) do not create skill or talent where there isn't any - they are tools to enhance existing skill/talent. other than the somewhat unique red dot effect, optics tend to hurt accuracy/consistency for shooters that are very new to shooting.
