In general, do smaller Vtubers ever show up on this thread? or just the mainstream ones? I don't think I've seen many indies talked about here
I watch a fair few indies. I generally don't talk too much about them. Risa Estella is pretty amusing because of how far she will take things without batting her eyes. She streams from Singapore, both IRL as an avatar. She's got this degenerate vibe without going overboard with it; like Gura with less of a filter. She streams on Twitch mostly nowadays, and I haven't kept up since. Maybe she got more degenerate as a result.

Come to think about it she might have inspired that one Vtuber who fucked her "toothbrush" on stream

Jesus jumping H Christ on roller skates, Mikeneko's chat has exploded. Over 30k people right now.

She had a minor pon moment at the start where she forgot to unmute herself.

That's if Calli cares enough.
I think she only needs a good reason to do so and then she will start caring. Maybe if any of her friends acts as a bridge like Ironmouse maybe she will. While I don't doubt Kiara is good friends with Pomu, she's the type to be overly cautious about everything now. I have not seen her do anything outside of the Holo Box since her Nyanners collab while Calli has collabed with Boogexvox, Ama Lee and TT (again)

There was a massive drift to niji from holo in terms of superchatters. From the ones I watched Elira had almost exactly the same people as Calli for example. The reason they aren't taking a hit when holo streams is because it's people who got bored out of Myth being the only thing and then they just decided to stay. Which is partially why Council didn't blow up the same way. It's not unreasonable for either niji or holo to notice that there is a significant overlap in paying audience, and they don't have bottomless wallets. It's also nothing new or weird for management in two "competing" companies to know each other and strike a deal like "we don't try to take back your audience and you don't push away our" and have collab embargo for a period of time. People always argue who banned collabs, but rarely mention it could just as well be both sided and not necessarily greed or malice.
I honestly don't see anyone but Ollie, Kiara and Calli even entertaining an idea of collabs. Council barely collabs with anyone even in the company, Ame and Gura both said before they have zero interest in outside collabs, and Ina is permanently way too busy to go through the hoops. I would bet on Calli doing it with the niji guys just to stick it to "antis" how she is totally based and does whatever she wants, only to then go all lovey dovey with gfe shit on next stream to calm simps like the hypocrite she is.

That's if Calli cares enough.

She probably knows Enna is Shannon (who won both of Calli's remix competitions), but beyond some interactions with Vox and Reimu, there's been little indication she will make a strong push for anything.

Kiara is the person most likely to push.
I feel like those who keep pushing (or begging) for HoloEN x NijiEN collabs often overestimates HoloEN's desires to collab with NijiEN. So far we have only have one (Kiara) who had publicly expressed desired to collab with NijiEN, and that's only with one of them (Pomu).

Hawaiian here.

I guess this will be a little bit of power leveling but I did attend Kawaii Kon 2022 because my brother dragged me into it, I went to the DEMONDICE Q&A on Friday and the concert on Saturday (Teddyloid also tagged along as her DJ for the concert and had his own concert in Friday night too) because those were the events he's into (oddly enough he is aware of the vtuber stuff but is actually mostly into the DD stuff if you wouldn't believe it lol) and I'd say it was pretty regular from what you'd expect at an anime convention, aka it was sweaty and disgusting.

I was at the Q&A and didn't hear anything about vtubing, mostly industry stuff related to DD's music and the animation. Not one mention of it whatsoever and I was there the entire time. I would've expected spergs to nag about it but nope; all just about "Hey DD, what's your biggest inspiration in your art style?" "What influenced your music?" "How often do you reflect on your earlier songs?" etc. like completely normal stuff, it was actually pretty boring tbh.

Although the concert was fucking packed. I've been to Kawaii Kon before (it's pretty much the only convention they have in Hawaii, no one goes to Comic Con Honolulu besides boomers who only remember comic books from before the 90s) and this is the most packed I have ever seen for a single guest, and we've had guys like Aya Hirano, Steve Blum and Vic Mignogna come by before. I probably caught a dozen different diseases from all the fat and sweaty Samoans and Micronesians (they're basically our niggers) packing the concert, but overall was an alright experience I guess. Ears still ringing because my bro decided to be up close to the stage with the speakers but it was colorful and full of lights and both DD and Teddy harmonized pretty okay on stage. Teddy gave back-up vocals and did the instrumentals on his deck while DD did most of the singing.

Again, barely any mentioning of vtubing or Mori Calliope from even the fans. Tho again I don't know much about this stuff and I might have missed on subtler clues, but either way wanted to chip in since I've been there and saw it talked about ITT so why not.

There's one more day left at the con, but I'd say the fans have been quite restrained so far. Most fans been wearing DEMONDICE merch than they are any vtuber merch from what I can see, though it's pretty hard to regulate a crowd where even in the main ballroom (where the biggest events are held) its literally to the walls- it's so packed and when the concert was over it took me 30 minutes just to get to ground level since there was so much people crowding everywhere including the escalators.

AMA, I guess.

Yeah or just desire to collab overall. I personally don't care either way if they do. What I do find is annoying is how people see collabs as a ground breaking event. People were thinking that the whole Nyanners and Ironmouse collabs will start a new trend among ENs. It turns out, it didn't. It's just a collab.

Sure, I can see that.

Personally, I think it's more to do with people just wanting the door open. It's an 'Elephant in the Room' that the two biggest corpos' EN branches are not interacting despite interest having been made public by members of both parties. It's not a case of 'They all want to interact' but moreso 'We know some of them want to interact and that's enough to question why it's not happening'.

It's not a good look for either company that this is the way it is, and it only gets more difficult as the members continue to bring each other up but nothing changes.

It happened before they even debuted. Fans, for some reasons, always have high expectation from HoloEN when it comes to collab. During the pre-debut period of Myth, I remember seeing a lot of comments about being "excited" on potential Stars collab, eg "Can't wait for EN to frequently collab with Stars just like ID, idolfags BTFO!". Well, fast-forward to a year and a half later, you can count the number of Stars collab with two hands.

Sure, you have a point. But I have seen way too many comments in the vein of "I wish EN management would stop blocking collabs, all the girls clearly want to do it. I want my Ame x XXX and Gura x XXX collabs. AKA, trying to speaking on behalf of the girls they barely even watch, because if they do, they would know that some of the girls have straight-out expressed, or implied that they have no interest. For a more extreme case, I have even witnessed one borderline schizo comment that claimed that the girls definitely want to do outside collab but were pressured by management to express otherwise.

So doing a look into mikeneko new model because I'm curious. They just released the showcase video now (Source)

Model maker/rigger: https://twitter.com/otozuki_teru
Illustrator: https://twitter.com/ookami_ciro

Far as I can tell they have done nothing for big corporate vtubers, only for the indie scene looking back into their past works now. No idea if there some deeper meaning using some lesser known illustrator/rigger but hey ho. Model looks very decent and looks like they pulled all the stops out because of who she was now.

There are 4 Types of Hololive Fans:
1. Casual fan who has a few favorites that would watch whoever is Live right now in their sub feed. They are usually subbed to at least 10 Hololive girls. They will watch any collab you put out and will not care either way if it happens or not. They will feel bad though if the girl feels bad.
2. Simp who prioritizes his/her oshi and then watches other Hololive girls when their Oshi is not live. These people will also not care if a certain Hololive girl can't collab with a certain person unless the girl is sad about it.
3. Hardcore Simp who hates collabs and doesn't want any outsiders most of all. They will be happy if their girl only collabs with other Hololive girls but they prefer if she does it max twice a month.
4. Casual fan but is very loud in trying to express their concern about the girls not collabing with certain people. They want certain collabs to happen but they won't support nor watch the other party outside of the collab. lol.

The only people that cares about the whole collab situation are people in the last category really. The moment the Hololive girl stops talking about her collab woes, type 1 and type 2 will not care anymore. Of course you have some holostar fans beggars asking for collabs but they only push for collabs because they think it will push their boy's numbers.
