It’s unfortunate but understandable because not a whole a lot people really cared about the other issues surrounding the anime dubbing industry until what happened with Vic unfolded. It was that incident that shined the biggest spotlight on all this.Very early in 2019, some Twitter users were using it as a hashtag, but it never really caught on.
In fact, Weeb Wars (as suggested by Cody Baier, to avoid this being another "-Gate" movement) has never really caught on, either.
I've always heard all of this referred as "the Vic stuff," "The Vic Mignogna situation," or "Vic situation" over the years (which is stupid, btw).
It's lazy as Hell.
It is what it is. At least it isn’t dead like GamerGate or ComicsGate because the reality is that Weeb Wars is just in hibernation until appeals happen.
