So, Kim's mom obviously doesn't give a shit, because from all appearances, Kim still just does whatever the fuck she wants with/to the poor kid. I know Arkansas DHS-DCFS is likely overwhelmed, and keeping families together is basically always the priority, but it sucks that they bothered to remove him from his mother's custody but not from her influence.

Ditto. There is a shortage of obstetricians in my rural area,thanks to this very issue. Most of the older, private practices only offer gynecology now, and do not see pregnant patients because their premiums are so high.
The only obstetricians available are in large practices now, who can afford the malpractice policies.

You're being really kind. JJ is a homeless, unemployed, violent meth monkey. Three weeks ago he was sleeping in a functionally abandoned trailer and flying a sign by an off ramp. The only reason Aiden is going to survive this is because JJs current bang-mommy seems to have kids she takes okay care of and will probably be fine taking in one more if it means she "gets" to keep dating him. More or less, Kim is planning to drop a medically vulnerable and autistic child off at a strangers home for a stranger to take care of while JJ ignores him. Kim would be better off leaving him with a pack of dogs.

ETA: JJs new girlfriend is a fucking mess. Every relationship she's had has ended into a restraint order against the insane, abusive morons she dates/marries/breeds with. Bitch has like 5-6 kids.. She also tried to file for a restraining order against some random woman who said she was going to "get her" JJ better brace himself for some legal bullshit when this ends, because Misty Long doesn't have a fucking thing to do all day but go to court. She also committed welfare fraud, which is fun.

I don't.

Foster care is a roulette wheel, with a lot of horrible places to land. But there are a few winning numbers. I've known some genuinely good foster-to-adopt parents who have saved kids from at least continuing the cycle. I would rather Aiden have that slim chance at salvation, even with the danger of landing someplace worse, than have him stay where he is and KNOW he's fucked.

I have a feeling shes just using the excuse of the baby dying to just do nothing (like usual) and dump her kid off and have no responsibilities. Losing a baby is hard, but you dont stop your responsibilities to your other kids. Not that she really raised and nurtured him. I feel bad for him, hes passed around like a burden.

Not to beat a nearly-dead old horse, but with Kims mom having custody, and possibly being incapacitated/dead, is there a provision for a family member or a social worker or somebody to have to step in and arrange for a competent adult to care for Aiden?
And I already know CPS is too busy/don’t care etc. but I’m wondering about the technicalities of his custody. If something bad happened to Aiden now, god forbid, who dropped the ball here?
It’s the same if something happened to Sammies mom, who would take Lucy and Bently? You wouldn’t expect Sammie or their real dad to just show up and take them because they don’t have custody.
Sorry if I’m being autistic about it. It’s such a shitty state of affairs. Imagine that the best outcome is that Meth grandma survives her stroke, Kim shits out her two deformed dead fetuses and both women continue raising Aiden as before.
All of this could have been avoided if they just used some damn birth control.
