Why is the court on it's own recognizance (apparently) without a request from either side constantly extending the term? A filing you have been yourself waiting for, is what is bothering me. I guess we really can't know. I'm just frustrated.

I presume the court is somehow being appraised of the status of the mediation, even though there's nothing on the record to indicate that it has any idea of what's going on.

So, if I'm reading the OP correctly, not only is Null not being held hostage by the court, it no longer costs him anything. This is a win for Null, as this is one less expense he needs to worry about.

On the schadenfreude front, Russ is undoubtedly coping and seething massively. You just know he wants to set the record straight and explaaaaaain his lolsuit against Null, but if Null can't talk about the mediation proceedings, then you know darn well Russ can't either. On top of that, there is no clear victory for Russ: the thread is still active, and we're still mocking him. Short of Null winning damages and claiming that red suit and keytar for auction, this is probably the best result for us.

Since it doesn't cost Null anything, I think the longer this court case goes on, the better. Russell can't sue him again while one is currently happening so this prevents Null from having to rehire someone to beat the pipsqueak back (at least from what I gathered)

Null and Russ are still in mediation talks. Since that has not ended, it is not appropriate for the court to make Russ file his brief yet, as it may prove unnecessary if they come to an agreement.

It sounds cliche but why can't dude use his strengths for good instead of bad?
He could do the honorable thing and use his legal knowledge to assist in upholding ADA laws and actually HELPING his fellow disabled Americans fight for their rights. Instead he bitches about his disability and thinks about no one but himself.
