Alright fellow kiwis, I need some assistance. I'm trying to figure out if a band I recently discovered has a troon lead singer.
I was listening to some random female screamer Spotify playlist, when the band 'Spiritbox' came on, specifically, this song:
I was like, wow, this lady has some pipes, and went to look up other songs from the band. That's when I actually saw what she looked like. She's very masculine looking, to put it bluntly. Her jawline alone would put most men to shame:
The thing is, her looks aren't what made me question if she's a troon or not. Some women look masculine, and that's just a fact of life. However, I ended up accidentally clicking a video where she's giving an interview, and I almost had whiplash when I heard it. Her voice sounds just like the typical troon voice you will no doubt be familiar with:
Naturally, this prompted me to look up "Spiritbox trans" to see if this is an out troon band. I found nothing official from the band claiming she's a troon, but hilariously enough, I found a reddit thread where a few troons say they want to look like her. One redditor says she isn't trans, to which another troon responds "You sure? She sure looks like it."
Since this yielded no useful results, I decided to look up photographs of the band and see how she looks standing next to other men. Even realy masculine women, such as Kat Von D, still look like women when they stand next to men. Here's the best photos I could find of her standing or sitting right next to men:

This didn't really convince me one way or the other, so I did some further digging on the lead singer and her family. She's pretty private about her family matters, but I did end up finding out that she was born in Alabama, but ended up moving to Canada when she was a kid, which is where she currently lives now.
Signs that point to her being a troon:
1. Very masculine appearance and voice
2. No childhood photos that I could find, unlike her sister and brother, who had childhood photos of themselves. The youngest photo I could find of her was age 18-19
3. She doesn't share much detail about her childhood, everything I could find, it's as if her life started when she was around 18 and everything else is a mystery.
4. She moved to Canada when she was a kid, do I need to say more?
5. I did find an old webpage from her dad's school website that mentions he is a father to several children, and she was listed as one. However, one thing that was weird was that the webpage wasn't crawled and archived, despite being 10+ years old and other pages were archived. So idk, she could have had the archived scrubbed and updated the school webpage to include her new name.
Signs that point to her being a real woman:
1. She doesn't talk about LBGT issues like most troons do
2. She's 33, child troons were almost nonexistent back then. (That said, Kim Petras, NikkiTutorials, and that one cake decorator troon who's name escapes me are around the same age and they trooned out as children)
3. Her voice could be fucked up and sound masculine from years of improper screaming techniques as a teen.
TBH I feel bad even asking, but, and feel free to call me petty...I don't want to support a troon artist that isn't being upfront about being a troon and is taking opportunities away from actual women metalcore singers.
