IMO Phil's show will end with a whimper not a bang. It'll be like one of those shows that just isn't on anymore, it won't be Star Trek:TNG. It'll be like that show that just ended and you're not sure what happened because you stopped watching 3 seasons ago and only heard it ended cause you saw an article saying "[show] not renewed for a new season" and said "wait, that shit was still on?!"
He'll just poof! Perhaps not gone gone but just existing on some random channel no one has cared about in years. It feels like it already started to happen when tevin and others who were making phil content around that time moved on. It's just a really REALLY slow burn.
It'll be like Maddox (sorry first person to come to mind) where he just exists on the internet, they were popular once people and people liked them but then they became a parody of themselves where everything they do is just "oh he's doing the thing, how exciting". Except for the people liked him part and he was popular for different reasons.
When SotD, Proper, PoP, An and MrSam move on that'll be the start of the "no one cares anymore" saga. They carry DSP, without them I would argue we're right on the cusp of that happening. He's already unwatchable without some commentary either cause of cringe (not the good larry daivd kind), boredom or just being such an obnoxious child.
He won't get canceled, if he gets the boot from YouTube and Twitch snubs him then he'll end up on FB gaming, when the metaverse collapses he'll end up on some random streaming service or have a new channel on youtube called "the REAL DSPgaming". He'll just get so pathetic, ending his online presence would be showing him mercy.
or not...fuck do I know?
I disagree. He was removed from twitch partnership. It took a while but it happened, and I don't think twitch went out of their way to do it, it happened because people were reporting him constantly.
@Nigel of Ukip had the right idea with going to sites like dexerto with Phil's behavior, it's that kind of extra pressure and exposure that can force youtube to do something. I've seen bigger channels punished for far less. Before anyone gets butthurt I'm not organizing an op or telling anyone what to do, I'm just saying that reports can do something and phil is not an unstoppable force. I dunno, I just think it will be hilarious to see him waddle his fat ass back to twitch because things went sour on youtube.
I am pretty convinced that during the year of "brands really care, this week asians" where twitch virtue signaled hard there were quite a few clips of DSP being racist against asians shared in the replies of the tweets, hell I wouldn't be surprised if people went to the organizations Twitch was partnering with the week the wanted to stop asian hate and showed them DSP. He got removed shortly after the stop asian hate month.
I said it before in this thread, he's too much of a little fish youtube just doesn't care. Youtube only cares if advertisers are getting annoyed then I'm sure they're drop him faster than he could snort. I'm also not planning ops or telling people what to do but it's very possible to bring phil's actions to the attention of said advertisers. Like I said before it'll take more time, tism and effort than he's worth.
How much does everyone watch of Phil? I am curious if my viewing habits are in line with the average detractor or not. I skip basically all gameplay.
I used to watch some gameplay or see his tard take on things but he's become so unwatchable since the pre-streams podcasts, now I can only really watch him if there's a prestream with someone talking about phil or just using phil as background, sort of like a tism vortex buffer.
He used to be fascinating to see how his mind works but even thats become predictable. There's moments like last ER stream where out of nowhere, not looking at chat, not having a conversation. Just dead silence and staring at the screen "People are telling me.....". Does he hear voices or some shit?
It's actually more fascinating to me to try and figure out who's an actual fan or who's being sarcastic or ironic in his chat, the line has become very very thin.
