Okay, so I have a pet theory regarding the AVGN movie:

My hypothesis is that the original goal of the Indiegogo was $75K and -as a result- the script was much more scaled down to keep within the budget. But when it got $325K James or perhaps his co-writer and the real director of the project (?) had the idea to go bigger and just throw tons of more shit into it.

There is absolutely nothing backing up my claim. We don't know if the script was finished or were there multiple scripts by the time James did the promo video for the fundraising. But isn't it odd that the movie opens with James as the AVGN being super famous but he works at a Game Stop knockoff? If he's super famous then why is he at a Game Stop? I'm going to go out on a limb and say that that part of the script was for the scaled down version and perhaps the entire film would have revolved around him working at a Game Stop and dealing with making the AVGN reviews? A premise that would be far more agreeable to the uncontrolled abomination we see before us now.

That's my take.

Doubtful. With $325K shooting in L.A? Plus you have to keep in mind that he paid to have the movie premier at Grauman's Chinese Theater and to have paparazzi there. He most likely paid to get it bookings across the country as well.

If I had to guess, I'd say he spent over $500K on the whole thing.

Well so far, post episode 200 Cinemassacre has been pretty darn good IMO. I still don’t like the advertisements but I understand why he does them given the state of YT and how demonetization works.

Erin looks like a literal Cabbage Patch Doll. Her content does not seem like anything sticks out. She’s so plain. I know I’m fixated on her objectifibly but seriously Mike, you could have gotten a LOT better.

To make matters worse, Mike still does videos with Ryan, which Cinemassacre shills for as if to rub in your face that Mike is still around, but not for making Cinemassacre content good.

Could he have actually gotten a lot better than Arin? Dude is funny but he's not particularly charming or attractive, he has a room temperature IQ, a history of racism and not particularly good looking career prospects. He doesn't have a higher education or any notable job history for the past like 20 years outside of playing NES games. I think he landed the best he possibly could.
