April 30: 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Autograph session: Sophie Labelle
Through the lucid gaze of Stéphie, 11 years old at the beginning of the book, Sophie Labelle explores themes related to transidentity such as cisgender privileges, transphobia and the role of ally, while moving away from cliches. The sarcastic tone of the characters, the vibrant illustrations and the comic format make it a must-have.
Sophie Labelle is a cartoonist, speaker and author. She started in 2014 the online comic book Assigned Male. His work quickly gained international popularity. Her series of youth novels Ciel was published by Éditions Hurtubise and has been translated into English. She also published Best of Assigned Male, a retrospective of her work, at JKP, from the Hachette UK group. Originally from the small town of Léry in Quebec, she currently lives in Finland.
