I feel like people who talk like this outside of professional environments just do it to sound smarter.

I do have issues with grandiose-sounding words, because I have a number of native tongues and it's hard to grade how my words come out at times, but is definitely not the case. This is specifically cherry-picking words to sound bigger, like a puffer fish beating you up with a dictionary.
"Solipsistic" is so uncalled for, specially when "close minded" has the same practical implication. This guy just picked the largest word he could think of to open his statement about black people being tired of their shit.

Probably a coincidence. Francesca was already considering leaving Twitter over Elon Musk and his bad mental state (he had to cancel his face surgery because of this) in the last couple of days. Amy Petrelli and Ivy/TheDaedalusCrew have also tweeted about wanting to leave the platform.

Speaking of Ivy... before deleting/locking his account he was taken to the emergency department again.
It seems he didn't really want to leave and they had to call security on him

One of the reasons for this is that Marie/@Dovemetal, a she/they woman who was his (only) real life friend for 10 months cut off contact because he's too mentally ill and clingy to be around (he would constantly call out for her on Twitter even though she visited every week or so). He recently had a pigeon tattoo done to commemorate their friendship, so now he has both a tattoo and an engagement ring tied to people who don't want to see him anymore.

Listen, you don't need a uni education to be smart. Uni supposedly educates you, takes your native intelligence and focuses it, until You Know Stuff.

But what I learned when I took a hard science class was that people that we think of as "smart", let's say doctors because they study a lot of science, aren't necessarily smart, but what they do have is an excellent memory and the ability to repeat facts they have previously learned.

A smart person has that ability, yes, but they can also extrapolate from what they've learned and apply it to things that come up in life. Schools can't really test for that well, they try, but it's hard.

It's like the old lawyer joke: What do you call a lawyer who got all Cs in law school? Counselor.

A lot of people with lots of degrees have the first ability, because that's all it takes to get through uni. At least at the undergrad level. I cannot speak to grad school, but if you want to see good examples of people who have doctorates who arguably have the first ability but not the second, read Grace Lavery and Rhys McKinnon's threads. Both of them are dumb as boxes full of rocks, yet they both have PhDs.

So, no. A uni degree - or twelve - doesn't make you smart, nor does the lack of it make you stupid.
