𝕏 / Twitter / X, the Social Media Platform Formerly Known as Twitter / "MUSK OWNS TWITTER"

While the salt from the left is lovely, my question is whether or not Musk will allow Twitter users to criticize Daddy Xi. Let's not forget that Musk expanded Tesla into Xinjiang earlier this year, where there's a literal genocide occurring. And while he's claiming to celebrate free speech, he also publicly celebrated the CCP's 100th anniversary.

So yes, while this is all very entertaining, it's not a reason to start thinking of Musk as some paragon of virtue. I don't think anyone in this thread is making that mistake, just kicking back and laughing, but the amount of people online elevating Musk to godlike status seems a bit much.

No one who cozies up to the CCP should be trusted.

Elon should always be considered an asshole and a retard until proven otherwise. The number of people ignorant about Xi and China are massively staggering. It's like trying to ignore the biggest elephant in the internet/human rights space.

Yeah, this is a very valid point. Musk would have an enormous amount to lose by doing that but....should he? We already know about what the CCP does...it's really nothing new.

He's obviously an asshole, you can't get to the top without being one. But he's been smart enough not to be drawn into the elite circles as others have. So he's now he's a White Supremacist crypto Nazi.

Who here actually thinks that though? I think most people here view Elon Musk as a psychotic faggot who is fucking up the universe, but in a way that's currently amusing.

Both men had a flash of inspiration
I mean not really, we were just enjoying playing Infiniminer in the TIGIRC developer channel so Notch made his own. Early builds were super fucking simplistic and he just continued adding random shit at every stage; inspiration never really entered into the equation with MineCraft. He didn't even come up with the title, that was another guy in the chat, Paul Eres/Rinkuhero (and he didn't even like it at first but couldn't think of anything better, to reaffirm the point).

I think them being ignorant isn't what's happening: Call it selective memory, or just outright ignoring that fact, particularly the loudest conservative boosters of Elon Musk buying Twitter (which, ftr, I have some doubts will go through and think it'll collapse in 3-5 months or so).

They are reactionary politics and negative partisanship incarnate: If it pisses off the left, then it's a win for their side, regardless of the unintended consequences.

Welp, RIP Discord and Reddit. You were both already shit, your both about to get a LOT worse…
Discord will probably stay the same. Part of what differentiated the experiences between Twitter and Discord is that you could shut out undesirables and keep to your echo chambers without ever having to interact them. Meanwhile on Twitter, you’re forced to interact with whatever and whomever goes viral that happens to get recommended to your feed, and no amount of content filtering will fully shut you out of being recommended things you don’t want to see.

Now Reddit, meanwhile, is definitely going to get worse and we all expected that to happen, which considering the state it’s in now and the culture it already breeds is kind of impressive in a very morbid way.

Read some interesting tweets that Musk could turn Twitter into a cash cow fairly simply because the company is notorious in Silicon Valley for its labor costs. Overpaid superfluous employees everywhere. Twitter has 8000 employees and I've read credible people saying it could operate and achieve a large profit margin just by firing a bunch of people. That it could run with 2000 employees as a bare minimum (more likely 3000 or 4000). And since he will be the sole owner that profit goes straight to Elon and no one else (well, after taxes go to Uncle Sam).
What the fuck. 8000 is entirely too much, even for a company with ostensible global reach like Twitter. Even if you consider that you'd likely need to maintain a skeleton crew in each country you operate in for legal purposes, it shouldn't reach 2000 globally. I cannot imagine you need more than 100 technical staff to even run Twitter and whoever they paid to design its UI should be fired on the spot for all the dumb shit they did.

He is proven to be an asshole by his conduct and not a retard by his shittons of cash. I do not see your point.
