The Amiga 500 mini - It's like a jungle sometimes.

So the Amiga 500 mini hit the world recently (with a thunderous acclaim from, like... ten people on the net who even knows what it is) so let's see if we can exchange tips on great games for it.

So are there any Eurofags or retrogeeks here who got themselves a Amiga 500 mini yet? I just got and i really got a sweet tooth for all things Amiga, but it was kind of out of sight even here in Scandiland so it's like getting lost in a jungle (Of course there is MoonStone, Castlevania and the likes but for every game i recognise the title of there is ten i don't) ... but fun.

And yes, it can boot up ROM files right from the get-go

So let's start with me, i was firstly going after roleplaying kind of games and found this game, pretty fun, haven't tried with a joystick (the pad is kind of sucky) but recently found out the C64-mini one works just fine.

im a fag for retro mini stuff, just makes the consuuumer that lives deep inside me happy to see the small retro thingy instead of a generic raspi or pc, though honestly ill probably put a r4 in one of those retroflag enclosures as soon as the prices come down to a palatable level again

Well, the positives for the A500 mini is getting better, now it's AOS compatible so it is steadily becoming it's own thing, almost getting my itch back for old school tracker music programming. So i better find myself a USB-hub <3

But yeah, when the maxi version comes along it will obsolete the mini, just like with the Commodore 64 mini.

Whilst I'm glad it exists (and surprised given how cancerous the copyright shit is in the Commodore community from what I've seen), I'd still say getting a standard A500 with WHDload is still better and probably similar price unless just want a quick hit and have the cash to spend. Hell, get an A600 for a small footstep machine and shitposting via WiFi.

Fake keyboards on those things are so lame.
That's when the Amiga 500 Maxi will come in later on, dunno how you would be able to do something on the mini keyboard, writing with toothpicks perhaps, but you can always get a USB hub and use a regular keyboard though.

theres a pretty autistically large collection in the archive https://archive.org/details/softwarelibrary_amiga&tab=collection
Great site! But it seems to be mostly ADF files on there (rumors says the A500 will be proper ADF compatible soon but as of now you'll have to get the Amiga OS to play them), But since there are screenshots of games it would be recommended to find the games you remember there and download from this site; http://www.whdownload.com/games.php?name=x&sort=0&dir=0&search=(AGA)&searchButton=Search

They really missed a trick not including Deluxe Paint and if they don't do it in the maxi they're fucking retarded.
I mean, I know that WE can all sideload our pirated copies ...but what about the normies?
Does EA even license their old games (or software in this case) to retro collections/consoles?, they barely care about preserving the decades of games that they own.

We're in an era where the PS2 is considered retro. Think most below 25 are gonna know what the fuck a Commodore is?

Huh, it's got Alien Breed 3D. That required the A1200 or preferably the A4000. It's a decent selection of titles otherwise, Simon the Sorcerer is good, Pinball Dreams is a classic and I am very fond of Lost Patrol, that's the only very Amiga game on the list imo.

It is WHD compatible so just download whavevs. (lhf and ADF files are clunky but rumors say it will be fixed at next firmware update.) Currently plaing Hugo, wich was most famous for being a phone-in game on a childrens show. nostalgia conquers gameplay on thar one.

Hugo, I remember that, it looked stellar. After that there was a phone-in game that played similarly but was pre-rendered, which wasn't a problem given how limited the gameplay was.

I thought about getting one, but the fake keyboard was a huge turnoff and I already own a 1200 with a flashcard and WHDload, so whatever.

I understand, i just couldn't help myself. For some reason i got it three days before release. Best is to wait for the maxi. But i'm content using an extended keyboard.
Right now i'm slowly falling in love with M&M...

just found out you have internet possibilities too!

Internet shitposting has been available on the Amiga for a while. Pretty sure Roadshow is still the easiest defacto method for getting online, with plipboxes for 500/500+ or 600/1200 PCMCIA cards. Last time I looked, someone had made a Youtube client for Amiga as well. Never underestimate the power of autism in the Amiga scene, when it isn't hampered by bullshit.

Might & Magic 2 is probably even more unforgiving than all From Software games combined.

Also I'm going to doublepost because I'm an asshole:

I'm surprised there's no Menace, Battle Squadron, Apidya or Xenon 2 preinstalled on that thing. Hell, not even Lemmings, was Rockstar asking for too much money? Same with the Turricans, but I guess those are missing because there was a collection of it released just a while ago.
