I've been doing this to various troons since it first got posted in this thread and the results are actually somewhat disappointing because I'm expecting them to be like Jim's where it works 100% of the time.

Even if he dropped the pretence of video games entirely at this point I'm not sure that would move the needle. I think the people unsubbing at this stage no longer actively watch Jim waiting to reach their personal limit, instead he pops up in their feed after not watching him for a long time and when they see the state of him they make the rational choice.

In that scenario there's really nothing that can accelerate the process, unless YouTube decide to fix their shitty algorithm and just show people the content they sub to in a timely manner, but that's about as likely as Jim becoming a True & Honest woman.

I've never noticed missing anything I'm subscribed too. Maybe because I don't have a ton of channels I follow. The only time I don't see every upload is when a channel is uploading basically that day's backlog of a twitch stream in smaller segments and I tend to only see the first upload of a specific game for that day. Which is reasonable. I know its there and I can seek the rest.

I think it really depends on the platform you use. On browser I have YouTube bookmarked to the subscriptions feed so I get everything in a chronological order and never miss an upload, but if I wanna watch YouTube on PS4 it's an absolute shambles of random shit; some channels I'm subscribed to, some 'recommended' channels which are 50:50 good and garbage and then completely unrelated shit I have no interest in like an entire feed dedicated to coof news.

The mobile app is the same, and both mobile and console have that fucking infuriating social media thing where when you come back to your homepage it will randomly refresh and replace everything that was there so if there was something else you wanted to watch next good fucking luck finding it again.

You're missing one reason why people would watch the Jimquisition: entertainment.

I know for a fact a lot of people who watched Jim through the years didn't do it because of his deep and comprehensive insight on the videogame industry. Mostly because he had none. But Jim is and has always been a clown, ready to debase himself for other people's entertainment. That's why he had the whole dictator shtick to begin with: it was patently ridiculous, and he was perfectly fine with that because the character allowed him to say outrageous things. He was crass and flamboyant and a lot of people found him funny.

I would actually argue that's the big reason why he's been consistently losing subscribers. His trooning out wasn't really what caused it, he had already been on the decline for a while. A man in a wig and an ill-fitting dress would actually bring more attention to his channel. No, the problem is that he got repetitive and whiny enough that the funny didn't make up for it. Right now he's still talking about "universal" gendercul BS and industry drama so even if he is in the UK he still has a US audience that finds him funny. It's a dwindling audience, but it's there. If he starts focusing on British politics in the same repetitive, whiny, unfunny ways he's been dealing with those "universal" things I mentioned, even the few people who still find him funny because he's a man in a dress whinging about the things they like will start leaving him.

Purely anecdotal, but I stopped watching him just before the trooner arc began. I'm sure it's been said a thousand times in this thread alone, but he really was just an entertaining quirky grump vaguely talking about something I'm interested in to put on in the background at work or in the car or whatever. The highlight of his output was his video about ol' Randy Bobandy in my opinion.
I can't put my finger on what it was exactly he did differently, or whether I just changed, but he soured and I stopped keeping up with him almost overnight. I think his jokes got old and repetitive and weirdly sexual in reference to kids' shows and toys (without that being the nature of the joke itself), and he just seemed fucking bored with games. It's fucking trite, but true, but the injection of so much left wing politics really grated as well. Like so many people in media, the latter days of Trump's term and then the lockdowns just sent him over the edge.
The tranning only started after I started lurking in this very thread, and now watching the decline has provided more entertainment than his videos ever did. Especially after discovering that the petulant, self-aggrandising persona I originally enjoyed wasn't really an act after all.

Jim's peak were the old escapist days. He was entertaining, not overly repetitive, and even occasionally insightful. Hell he made a video (mildly) criticising Sarkeesian when she first popped up. Then the autism apocalypse happened and he lost his mind. He just went full gamers are scum, got shitcanned from the Escapist for refusing to shut the fuck up and went full repetitive leftist.

His squirty play and Steam Greenlight stuff was pretty good because he actually showed gameplay and did some over the top voice overs which with his persona fit perfectly. The "commentary" stuff got real stale real fast though.

The thing is though, and maybe I'll catch shit for saying this, there's something inherently likeable about Phil, even though he's a total asshole. He reminds me of Ed from Ed, Edd and Eddy, in that regard.

There is nothing likeable about Jim any more, because he's turned into such a caricature with no actual opinions of his own; desperately hopping onto any bandwagon he thinks will get him out of the career he's inadvertently shackled himself to. Funny you mention entertainment because Jim recently made a tiktok account presumably for the purpose of entertaining shorts and it really does highlight how unfunny of a person he is. Its a mixture of 'funny' little jokes videos and the kind of crap you might see from those pro-trans accounts but its all so amateurish and boring, the only interesting thing is a video of him in public which confirms he does actually go around in the day looking like he does.
