I'm fully convinced Russia stopped doing actual weapons development somewhere in the late 1970s and they've just been staffing their weapons RnD departments with fan fiction tier writers and whenever they want to show off a new toy they use some left over designs from the 60s.

That's not entirely inaccurate. A lot of their weapons engineers average age is in their 50s, and the 90s basically frozen a lot of development. Not quite 70s, but still.

The diplomacy all went to shit when fighting continued and Russia said they didn't have anything to do with Minsk II apart from being a mediator so they could do whatever the fuck they wanted. When Zelensky tried to talk to Russia, they told him to fuck off and talk to the DPR and LPR.

And why Russia should be involved in Ukrainian internal affairs? You previously correctly pointed out, even if to introduce a false premise, that DNR and LNR de jure are parts of Ukraine and nothing else. I will also remind you that Russia itself did not recognized them, until very recently, as an independent states. Ukraine should have worked with the heads of the Republics if they wanted something done. And if they would work with Ukraine through Russia, it would only serve to reinforce the view that they are nothing more than Russian puppets and don't have their own agenda.

I specifically mentioned capabilities and you want to make this about the will to fight.
All the will in the world will not make artillery pieces and missiles fall from the sky.
The separatist republics could sperg all they want but if Russia comitted to not supporting separatism they wouldn't have the means to fight. The separatism helps Russia's strategic goals so they give absolutely no shits about how many people die there as long as they get what they want.

This isn't about the need to intervene but the perception that any base around Russia is a threat. I'm simply returning Russia the favor by asking what are Russian bases doing so close to other countries.
I'm going to be real right now, if Ukraine promised no NATO bases after joining and then built one right afterwards what would Russia even do? Invade a NATO member state? I'm not going to beat around the bush here, with a "neutral" Ukraine Russia can do whatever the fuck it wants. A NATO member Ukraine can do whatever the fuck it wants. These are irreconcilable differences.

Diplomacy is deadlocked, then. Nobody would stop fighting until they got what they wanted. So in the end the EU didn't do much at all in the name of peace, and is now willing to send whatever they have in storage.

I was always suspicious about the news stories of Russians getting remotely locked out of Ukrainian farm tools, like this isn't petty thieves who go "Oh no, this is worthless now" Russia could easily break down the trucks for materials or send them to engineers that will simply bypass whatever the fuck is in it.

Also for the record, if Finland etc. are so scared of Russia right now why aren't they joining NATO? Are they simply waiting until they get invaded so they can have the same shitstorm as right now with Ukraine where joining would cause a shitstorm of other countries forced to join in and lead to a rapidly escalated war? Right now Finland gets all the benefits of NATO without actually being a member but that would stop right away once a single bullet fired over there. By the time that happens it'd be too late.
