There's this fairy tale idea out there that if abortion is made illegal then sweet lil' babies will be carried to term and either the parents will fall in love with them and keep them and raise them well, or the babies will be given up to good homes where they will be loved and cared for.
This is fiction. Unwanted children often suffer fates that make "killed in utero" look like the ultimate kindness.

Also there is the chance that if someone doesn't abort, that kid might grow up to have OPINIONS on the internet. Do we really need more of that shit?

The opposition to abortion isn't about violating the mother's bodily autonomy but about protecting the child's. That the two are temporarily in opposition if the mother wants the child to be killed is not the Pro-Lifer's fault, but Nature's. And given the mother is inconvenienced for nine months one way or the child for ninety years the other, we side with the child.

The two arguments are not the same - Pro-Lifers simply don't accept that the mother's bodily autonomy overrides the child's. Adoption is a thing no matter how much the abortionists scream about how a child not having a perfect childhood is worse than being killed before birth.

It's increasingly hard to give a single solitary shit about it beyond the knock-on effects it might have on other aspects of life that are pertinent to me. I've been told that I need to shut up about abortion as a penis-haver and then been scolded for not vocally backing up women on the issue.

And no sooner than I make my post, than such an argument appears. Ask a bunch of adults who have had tough childhoods if they'd prefer to be dead. I guess you'll find some but then they have the choice to do so if they actually meant it. Most will tell you they choose life. And unless you can magically predict which infants would spend their entire lives regretting never being born (yet choose to carry on living), you don't get to decide for them and it's not an argument for abortion.

Yeah, some adopted kids have tough childhoods compared to those who don't. Both have Hell of a lot better lives than most kids for the rest of history. If our standards are that high, we should have stopped the human race long before we reached the Victorian era on the basis that oh-no, life is just too hard.

I was more looking at it from the angle of having read autopsy reports and CPS files on dead kids that were killed by the adults who were supposed to care for them, but I suppose whiners should have a right to exist in society.
